I was very worried. So glad the 29 families don't have to hear anymore of Don't politician commercials for awhile. I thank you and Mother Jones for the wonderful job of covering this.

Re: Blankenship Holds Third Place in GOP Primary Race; Manchin Fights to Keep Seat

The only place to fairly evaluate this is from the side of what is true. In 1920-21 the companies bought their preachers today they were not hired by the cosl company but the checks Don writes still hire them. Just read the letters preachers wrote for him. Just listen to who is voting for him. Truth matters and Blankenship still, denies any blame at all. His latest lie, is that it is Obama's fault. He was always master of deceit.

Re: Battle Cry of a Redneck Revolution

I had tears in my eyes as I read this. I am an retired teacher, so I know how much this is needed. But more that that, unity to fight for each other in this country has been missing for a long We are our brother's keepers. We need the division healed anf those that pit human again human, need to scurry back into the dark holes of time. It is time to wake up.

Re: Disgraced Coal Baron Don Blankenship Is Running for Senate in West Virginia

Don Blankenship doesn't pay everyone. He writes checks for preachers in Mingo & Boon Counties, and of course, they write letters to the judge telling him what a great guy Don is. He writes checks for community events, key ones that involve those he wants to win over, For the rest, he acts different than most they know in leadership roles. Don never cusses or yells, he talks with people & is a great listener. If you ever listen to the recorded tapes of him talking with his superintendents or division superintendents, he always used a calm voice, never does he get angry and cuss them. . He often ridiculed them, pushing them to be tougher. One tape, he told a man , "you are slow, your whole demeanor is slow. & weak". What do you think this kind of talk did? Cussing them would make them mad at Don. Instead, they quested themselves and got tougher. He the the best to getting people up-in-arms and combative against those Don hates. He hosted these big Rally's, like his Friend of America Rally. He had Hank Williams Jr. - "Union Against the worker, working against his will...'.) He had Ted Nugget, with his guns and hate Hillary & Obama speech. He had Fox New's Sean Hannity, bashing climate change, and anti democrat, anti regulations speech. He even bought his own scientist, to deny global warming. Seven months later 29 of Don's workers were killed at Upper Big Branch Mines. We have heard Don and his bought parrots, ridicule regulations all year long, But now, he wants us to believe he was all for miners safety and the explosion was MHSA's fault. WHERE IS YOUR MIND? Everything about Don's speeches was against safety and environmental regulations, but now you expect us to believe he was all for safety. God have mercy.

Re: Disgraced Coal Baron Don Blankenship Is Running for Senate in West Virginia

Sen. Not one of my early pictures shows a home I could revisit - most every house & store was destroyed by the sludge dam. I had moved from there when I was young, or I would have lost friends & family too. I moved to the Matewan area where I graduated from Matewan High. I love our history but I did not learn much of it at school. What I did know, I was ashamed of - what a shame. Today, I am one of the founders of The West Virginia Mines Wars Museum. I want our kids to know their history. I see our state turn into a red state & a Trump voter, and I want to cry. They are pulling us right back into a past that is already gone, also with most of the profitable coal. They tell our kids, "We are nothing without coal!" I want to scream.NO MORE LIES! VICTIM NO MORE! Those saying, "We are nothing without coal," needs to watch Mari-Lynn's movie, see how wonderful coal have been for WV. Yet I stay here and fight for our history and for a dream. My dream for Mingo County & my hometown of Matewan, WV.
MATEWAN WILL BE.......... iNFUSED with a wonderful NEW ENERGY & A THRIVING group of Amazing Appalachian Artisans - the people that have become the Heart & Soul of America in this new century? You think that is impossible? This little area always has been the heart of America for almost a hundred years. The coal trains were like arteries and veins to our nation. The national resources of giant trees, gas, and coal, flowed out of Matewan - all of West Virginia, like our state was an never ending source that gave light, home, and energy. Our riches were plundered, while we were ridiculed. The youth were our most important resource and they became a progressive part of our nation, when they left their home. Now fear grows & they say, "We are nothing without coal?" Really?
We always were "Something!" Our earth may be filled with empty caverns and many blasted away mountains. Yet light shines in a vacuum. A new perspective is discovered, a new energy within. It creates enlightened minds & hearts. It flows from our center, and no one can take it away.
Be Still - I Am.

Re: The Williamson Daily News | Simon digs Appalachian History

Thank you Eric, and your family.

Re: Domino effect on coal industry - Williamson Daily News - williamsondailynews.com

The truth should matter to all of us, no mater what party we belong to. Here is a true statement shared in this article:" The four largest US miners by output (Peabody Energy, Arch Coal, Cloud Peak Energy, and Alpha Natural Resources), which account for nearly half of US production, were worth a combined $34 billion at their peak in 2011." They were at their "PEAK" in 2011, well Obama was president then and coal production went up much higher then, many more jobs than under George W. Yet in Raleigh County, WV the billboard read: "Obama's No Work Zone.' It's easy to see how they use lies and fear to control minds and elections. http://www.vox.com/2016/2/2...

Re: Anti-Obama march organizer fatally shoots right-wing militant buddy in drunken dispute over gun

I believe there are dark ages where hate and fear mongers control things for awhile - we have been in one of these ages for over thirty years. The kids I taught at school have never know any other way. They have never turned on the news and heard unbiased reporting, unless they turned on PBS, Link TV, or Al Azeera. It is time to wake up and turn around. It is the fear and hate mongers that need to be shown for what they are. Ignore them instead of following them. Time for change. AWAKE UP AWAKE UP WAKE UP AWAKE UP.....Just as Saul believed he was defending his religion, while he was throwing rocks to kill Stephen, he was blind to the truth. He was struck physically blind before he could see. pray everyone will wake up, Greedy liars have controlled this nation too long with their fake religion , fake news, and wars mongering.

Re: Reid: GOP running on 'platform of hate'

Highly educated? lolol what in BS?.

Re: These Striking Photos Will Change the Way the Way You Look at Coal Country

Spelled it wrong
.https://www.facebook.com/Appalshop

Re: These Striking Photos Will Change the Way the Way You Look at Coal Country

Michael, I think I met you at the museum this Summer, am I'm right? The two men in front of the UMWA, took a progressive stand and backed Obama, they debated the issues in their union. They foster critical thinking in the openness of their discussions and in listening to both sides, allow each time to speak. . I am in front of the new Mine Wars Museum with the bandana. We just opened in May.It's not just history, it's the working people's history and activism You really should watch the movie Matewan, you would understand. . The bandana I hold represents union solidarity, people coming together to support each other. The ladies painting, one for sure is democrat, are using art and love of community to beautify and renew that town, Words here ridiculing have hurt, but we are going to fight for progress, to renew and change things around. i have stood at permit hearings protesting the blasting of our mountains off. I have written grants, attended meetings, picked up trash, and promoted our new goals.
