I actually tried a write-as-I-go CYOA style story this past summer where I wrote a chapter and had reader's vote on one of three or four choices. I would then write the next chapter based on the winning vote. But, life got in the way and I stopped after three chapters. I do plan on revitalizing it soon though.

I don't have any issue with them renaming the award. They didn't ban her books or anything like that.
The world's mindset is evolving on race sensitivity issues. Right now, the mindset is to disassociate with anything or anyone that showed some type of racist or prejudicial behavior.
The same thing is happening here in Northern Virginia where streets and schools named after Confederate heroes are being changed.

I make it a priority to have black protagonists because, so far, there are so few in my genre (superhero fiction/urban fantasy). Even if my MC was white, I would still build a diverse world, because our world is diverse.

The characters in our world should reflect the characters in the location where our stories take place. If a story takes place in downtown DC then there better be a mixture of races, genders, and sexualities. Anything less is lazy writing.

We shouldn't make a book diverse just for the sake of diversity though. It needs to be realistic. There are no predominantly black schools in Rugby, North Dakota. It's OK to have an entire series of books set there without one black person showing up.

An author seeking to diversify their books and be inclusive needs to simply open their eyes and ears to the world around them. Write the people who would typically exist in your character's world and you'll be fine.

One thing I would stress is the need for our sites to be mobile friendly.
Randall's site is barely usable on my phone. Plus, the pop-up sign up form blocks the whole screen and can't be closed.

I'm looking forward to subscribing to Office 365 Home Premium. We have 2 PC and 2 Macs in the house. It's going to be nice to have them all running the same version of Office for once.

I have the same exact issues that you have. I've tried SlapDash podcast client to bring in any podcasts that aren't in the store, but I have to go into the app to see them. I'd rather just click on Podcasts and see them there.

The biggest thing I miss are the auto-playlists. Like you, most of my music discovery was on the PC, but sometimes on the phone when I was away.

I had autoplaylists for "New music added within the last 60 days", "Songs I "hearted"", and a few others.

That capability is gone and frustrating.

Hopefully, Microsoft was just rushing the product out and will fix it soon.

Yeah, I can't imaging buying a new PC that didn't have a touch screen. I have Windows 8 on my four year old Sony Vaio laptop and I keep touching the screen.

Thanks for the clarification, Andrew and Richard. I guess I can understand your frustration. Those are craptastic search results now that I dig a little more.
The biggest issue I see is that Microsoft allows duplicate app names and at the same time gives too much weight to the app name. I'm developing my first app for Windows 8 and there you have to reserve a name. So no duplicates.

I just did a search for 'Homework' and your app was the fourth one listed. That's pretty good for an app without the search term in the title.
Search isn't broken. It just isn't tweaked to the standards some developers are hoping for.
