Thanks for the kind words... T-minus three hours.

I assume you mean if I didn't have insurance, or was my insurance company. I suppose I'd want to be out of the hospital as quickly as possible (which is the case as it is) and I would probably have cut the pre-hospital stay to one day, if at all possible. Just being here costs money.

In regards to what I've read about your practice, it sounds as if there would be a lot less double and triple signing of paperwork, as if there'd be better communication and streamlining, which I imagine saves money and time. Being responsible for signing these things now that I'm 23 has certainly been eye opening.

But overall, if I was paying out of pocket, I wouldn't be getting this done, because I'd either not have had the MRI required, or would have put off this insanely expensive surgery until I absolutely needed it. I think that the great uninsured plague has affected young people in a way that has rarely been talked about in this national debate. We simply don't have the cash or collateral for loans to pay for medical care out of pocket, and since so few of us are getting jobs out of college, so many are going uninsured and bypassing really essential care. In that sense, I'm lucky I scored a job that provided the insurance, though no doubt I'll be working too hard to fe everything covered.

Although, I won't be thankful in a few hours when I wake up from getting hit by a bus.
