Plenty of room in films for some great female-led spy films. Not many compelling or logical reasons to have the James Bond character ever be one of them.

This sort of thing has bounced beyond silliness. Fun for the internet, however.

Re: The Next James Bond: 11 Actors Who Should Play 007

If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it. Straying too far from the Daniel Craig James Bond would be a terrible mistake, and the Bond producers are very careful not to make a mistake with these choices.
Henry Cavill is the Fleming James Bond, and one only need to watch The Man from U.N.C.L.E. to know how perfect he is for the character---and you know he can handle the action. Leaving him off any list for the reasons given is fairly absurd.

Don't mess with the iconic character of James Bond. The character hasn't survived 50+ years by accident.

Re: Breaking Bad Blood Money Roundtable

Well, perhaps she thought she was seeing a dead man. Anyone that knows and thinks about the inherent themes attached to Blade Runner, would be more than ready to take it on. This is very telling with regard to Scott himself. Three decades and nothing to say? Maybe best if they ditch this notion completely.

Re: Bond 50 Giveaway: Snag Massive Blu-ray Box Set Celebrating Half-Century of 007

Connery will always be my favorite James Bond--as iconic as Harrison Ford might be to Indiana Jones.
Of course, Blofeld is the best villain. Attack the Block is a fun little film, but by no means does it show anything that would make me believe he has the goods to deliver a film like Snow Crash. It's a poor choice and indicates to me that they are looking at a stripped down version (a poor man's version) of the source material. Snow Crash deserves much much better than this.

And anyone that thinks the elements in the story don't hold up to our current ideas and technology may need a serious revisit to the book. Feel free to come back with what you find.

Re: ‘Prometheus’ Full Theatrical Trailer | /Film

Time will tell, of course.

One of the best trailers ever made is the original trailer for ALIEN. The score to The Thing absolutely channels Elliot Goldenthal's work from Alien3. Beltrami was the best, most obvious choice (in my opinion). Streitenfeld has been collaborating with Scott for some time, and even though Streitenfeld's score to Robin Hood is fairly decent, he's an underwhelming choice when considering the various composers that could deliver such a project. I'm optimistic and hope that he steps up to the film.

Even so, you should take a listen through Knowing and The Thing, and perhaps you might see Beltrami in a new light.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zV5...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

As for the other stuff, I dunno, I consider that Space Opera universe as a bit of fantasy, and therefore, "shiny", which might not be the best word. Regardless of the analogies hashed, I still think Ridley Scott's ALIEN did some things with science fiction that weren't being done. That too is debatable, but, for me there was before ALIEN and after, and things have never been the same.

Re: First Look Footage: Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ | /Film

Alien and Aliens are both amazing films. People will have there preferences, but ALIEN did things in a SF film that had never been done, he took the shiny (i.e. Star Wars) out, made a true science fiction film. He does it better than anyone.

Prometheus will re-establish his legacy as a filmmaker. Just my opinion. Just wish they had Beltrami scoring the film.

Going to be an amazing Summer.

Re: ‘Prometheus’ Teaser Poster | /Film

Approved. He's not going to muck up Blade Runner, and I largely suspect that he will take a similar approach to this, as with Prometheus.

Re: Spoilers: Is This the Plot of Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’? | /Film

What's going on in here?

Re: Video: Director Jon Favreau Interviews Harrison Ford | /Film

All about the hat.

This film is going to sneak up on people this Summer.

Re: ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ Teaser Trailer | /Film

Yeah, it seems that "regular" action films, more often than not, have been relegated to b-film status at conception. Just thinking of The Expendables makes me sad, and as much as I love Machete, Rodriguez will never have the stellar production values films like this deserve.

Here, it looks like it's all put together, and handled with the production and human stunts that allow a film like this to shine.
Brad Bird. I can already see the imagination at work, creating some stellar shots. Can only imagine the sequences that set up this stuff. Can't wait.

Re: ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ Trailer Description; Will Premiere on ‘Transformers: Dark of The Moon’ | /Film

Bird Bird Bird, bird is the word

Re: New Image: John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe in ‘The Raven’ | /Film

He looks good.
