Back to the topic. Yesterday, I was really miffed at the CEO's showing up in Washington via private jets but I'm more concerned for the workers and how many other areas would be affected if these companies didn't get a bailout.

The Dem's would get blamed and Jindall will sail into office in 2012. Scary thought.

I saw that the actual loss of jobs would be about 3 million and not the 13 million that has been stated previously. This was on CNN last night with Anderson Cooper.

It's hard to want to help them when they've each mis-managed their companies into the ground and spent a ton of money lobbying to keep from having to make more fuel efficient cars.

Time to start fresh, but not on the backs of the taxpayers.

ezpz, there's so many Clintonites because it's standard procedure to get talent from a previous admin and the Clinton WH years are all there is to draw on lately.

I'm hoping this will stop soon. I'm also very, very tired hearing about glass ceilings and I don't want that used as some excuse to bring Hillary into any important position.

Oh my! Obama met "secretly" with Bill Richardson today in Chicago, according to this AP story.

But you don't see his spin machine out there like Carville and Begala this afternoon, nor unnamed sources "close to Richardson" telling reporters what supposedly happened.

She also failed at health care before and has no qualifications for the SoS job. I wouldn't offer her anything.

Can you tell I'm not a fan? She and Bill did what they had to do during the general election and I don't believe for one minute that any of it was sincere.

piktor, I think that she not only has an Olympian contempt for language but also for education. With two kids that are dropouts already, I'm sure Piper won't make it through high school either.

Sarah sure didn't seem to be concerned about Piper missing school for all those weeks. The first dud could have stayed home with the kids in Alaska........except he follows his wife for the glory too.

I shudder to think that he would have been privy to everything that a Vice-President is privy to. If he stuck his nose so closely with Alaska politics, I'm sure the VP spot wouldn't have been any different.

The last paragraph in particular is quite telling:

This seems to be routinely overlooked, but take a moment to consider what the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs actually does: it's the committee principally responsible for oversight of the executive branch. It's an accountability committee, charged with investigating the conduct of the White House and the president's administration.

As chairman of this committee for the last two years, Lieberman decided not to pursue any accusations of wrongdoing against the Bush administration. Lieberman's House counterpart -- Rep. Henry Waxman's Oversight Committee -- was a vigilant watchdog, holding hearings, issuing subpoenas, and launching multiple investigations. Lieberman preferred to let his committee do no real work at all. It was arguably the most pathetic display of this Congress.

And yet, now Lieberman acts as if keeping this chairmanship is the single most important part of his public life. Why would he be so desperate to keep the gavel of a committee he hasn't used? I'll let you in on a secret: he wants to start using the power of this committee against Obama."
