Patty, that's a great layout idea!. I was actually thinking of getting a tall skinny table (coffee table?) to put behind the couch. The problem is that if we use our large sofa (90"?), you get maybe 20" or so left on the side until you hit the wall, so we might have to get a small sectional.

Also, I have a couple of bookshelves we got from Ikea that are tall and skinny that we currently have stacked on their side, as a TV stand/DVD holder type thing(ambaboob). I was thinking of standing those up and putting them in the living/dining doorway to make the living room more like a room.

well we live in a big street, so it was plowed all the time. I was in Skokie the same day and Berwyn definitely did a better job of plowing than Skokie.
