It is so disappointing when I am judged for not liking the image that Julia Allison has chosen to put out about herself on the Internet. I am glad you really understood my point too.

I am not defending the hate site, I am saying that things such as her outing her ex-boyfriend's mental illness are true. Things such as her promising content and never delivering are true. Things such as her taking pictures of strangers and posting them online along with violent sentiments are true. She has put this all out there. In addition, a "web celebrity" should be able to weather a storm of what is supposedly "14 or 15" bitter girls talking about her. But yet she spent all night replying to comments about her on gawker. You are right. Julia isn't the problem here. THE WORLD IS THE PROBLEM! Julia has been waiting so long for people to figure this out.

Re: Sony To Refresh HDNA Advertising Campaign With Peyton Manning, Justin Timberlake And More

I also think that it is a bit ridiculous to call Julia fat, but I will say that as a role model for body image for young girls she is TERRIBLE. Her self esteem is largely based on her weight and appearance, and she goes between binging on cupcakes and then fasting on juices. She is a self-proclaimed former bulimic, and she continues to publicly be proud of binging/purging behavior. Because of her poor eating habits and lack of regular sleep (all posted about repeatedly, day in and day out, by her on her own website) and overuse of shoddily performed cosmetic procedures, she has an unhealthy puffiness at times. But I would by no means call her fat.

That does not mean that her body image issues and willingness to discuss them in an unhealthy way on the Internet are not alarming. It is very alarming.

Re: Sony To Refresh HDNA Advertising Campaign With Peyton Manning, Justin Timberlake And More

This comment is fake, and meant to make the anti-Julia sentiment seem limited to her "hate site". The reality is, hate site or not, Julia HAS done all of the things that have been said about her on this page. Regardless of how sad and fat and boyfriendless or whatever you think her "haters" are, the fact remains that everything that is being discussed about her is true and has been put on the Internet by her. She does not disclose when she shills for products, she does and says things that are horrible about other people, and she produces little to no content (and what content she does produce is typically limited to forced conversations and inside jokes she has with her friends).

There are many people on the Internet who are doing much better than Julia at being a "web celebrity", and they do it without hurting others.

You would think a web-celebrity such as Julia Baugher would be able to handle this sort of thing, and that a supposedly sad group of "14 or 15 girls" talking about her wouldn't matter at all. The reality is, the haters are pretty much the only ones who care about her at all.

I can buy Sony products. I do buy Sony products. Sony's choice in hiring Julia Allison Baugher has turned me off from their brand. Anyone who has followed her will know that her opinion is as useful as a hole in the head.

Re: Sony To Refresh HDNA Advertising Campaign With Peyton Manning, Justin Timberlake And More

I can also say with full confidence that the next time I am in the market for electronics, and I am choosing between Sony and another brand - I will not be choosing Sony. Thumbs WAY down for your choice of Julia Allison to represent your brand.

Re: Sony To Refresh HDNA Advertising Campaign With Peyton Manning, Justin Timberlake And More

Julia Allison is a terrible choice for a brand ambassador. Have you ever even visited her blog? The content she produces is banal and borderline offensive. Julia has said things such as that she knows that "women have an expiration date" when it comes to beauty. Julia will be appearing in an HBO documentary coming out soon about young women who inject their face with botox. Julia has twittered about a private fight between Rosie O'Donnell and her wife that Julia overheard through the wall of her apartment (where Rosie lives next to her). Julia has taken pictures of strangers on public transportation and posted them on her blog, where she has called them names that can be construed as racist and threatened physcal violence on them. There are well documented rumors of Julia using "date rape" as an excuse to get out of obligations in college. Julia uses her cell phone on airplanes to Twitter, which is a violation of FAA rules. Julia consistently shows terrible judgment and little regard for others. She is just a terrible choice for the Sony brand and I am surprised that Sony has allowed anyone to spin her in a positive light. Please think twice about this, unless you want a brand ambassador who is a laughingstock on the Internet, and who is really a vile human being. To put Julia Allison in a line up with Peyton Manning, Justin Timberlake and Amy Sedaris is like putting a silk hat on a pig.

I agree with the suggestion of iJustine. She is a great example of a web celebrity. She has a consistent body of work, and I can't think of anything that she has done that would border on racist or anti-feminism or a violation of a stranger's privacy.

SONY - PLEASE RECONSIDER THIS CHOICE.
