Customization is key so I love seeing this. We've needed responsive design for a truly long time.

Re: Reasons to Get a Business Pinterest Account

I'm so glad you wrote this. I'll have to link to your post because I hadn't even heard of #FacebookBreak. That's sort of my point, though, I suppose.

Also? I'm totally NOT a fan of announcing a break. From anywhere. I just disappear. It's easy, as people aren't used to seeing me in their streams much. There are good reasons for that.

(I am not writing my post in your comments. I am not writing my post in your comments. ;) )

Re: Creating Experiences Is Where We Are Headed

I invest a good deal of time standing in the shoes of my audience. I have yet to be satisfied with the fit. And so I keep working on it.

Paying attention or, hell, even acknowledging the notion of the "experience" is an integral part of our foundation as [fill in the blank-- I'll take "humble blogger" too]. When consulting for new clients, I urge them to think like their audience first and foremost. You can scream "I write for me!" all you like, but I believe we owe our audience more than that.

Re: http://jessicanow.com/post/705541429

This post isn't really aimed at me, but Facebook fan pages have been on my mind for a while. I have yet to invest much time at all into my own fan page and I have yet to discover a reason to do so.

Hang on... I just realized I've never "liked" Jessica Smith Labs.... there. Done. Now then, where was I?

Oh yes, what is the value of Facebook Fan pages and of the fans? Facebook is still a baby site to me. I say that as I sit in a coffee shop and two of the four people here have Facebook open on their laptops right now. I am not one of them, though I am signed in so that I can click all of the fancy buttons on everyone's sites. Community support and all that jazz.

What does that say about me, as a fan?

Re: Scott Stratten of UnMarketing: Video Interview

Respectfully asking bloggers doing what you admire HOW they are doing it is the best advice. I receive multiple emails a week asking me for advice on how I monetize my platforms and I always appreciate it.

The fact that your readers notice and take the time to ask versus notice and then stomp their feet and pout because "WHY NOT ME?!" is noteworthy.

Solid interview.

Re: Allison Czarnecki: Social Luxe, BlogHer '10 + Swag

As the organizer and a co-host of The People's Party (a night-before-BlogHer event), I have to hand it to Allison for being open and honest about what it's like to organize and host one of these parties. It was encouraging for me to hear that she deals with the same issues we struggle with, and this is our fourth year.

By the way, Allison reached out to me last year to ensure that we wouldn't be stepping on each other's toes as they introduced their party for the first time. Impressive, as some party organizers can see it as a competition. Seriously, people.

I'm late finding this post, but let me say that if anyone doubts that it's next to impossible for them to make Social Luxe more inclusive, let me promise you that she's not being obtuse. As The People's Party was founded as an open, inclusive crash-pad the night before BlogHer (a night when there used to be only a few hundred people arrive early), I can attest to the fact that it's overwhelming to try to include every single attendee. Had we not agreed to partner with BlogHer this year, our own party wouldn't' have happened for New York. Period.

PS- We're not even having swag this year. Everything Allison said about swag and some attendee's expectations is right on the money. Swag was always an afterthought for us and this year we've chosen to make it a point that we won't be offering any. It's about the party and the people, not the stuff.

Okay, I could really go on and on about this. Thanks to ShePosts and Allison for this interview. If there's any way I can get away from the set-up for our party (or the party itself? I don't know what time Social Luxe is...), I'll so be there.

Re: Damn Clients Keep Making Me Cry

Thank you, Stephanie.

I do work from home and am trying everything I can to help make ends meet and still hold the other stuff together. At some point, every day, I ask if I'm making the right choices.

All we can do is be professional and simultaneously figure out a way to talk this out. I say "talk" this out because lord knows we can always figure out a way to "work" this out. It's the talking that moves us.

Re: Client Service: Not Business as Usual

My husband gets frustrated when I talk to him about how I'm handling this negotiation or that management issue in my social media wranglings. He's an attorney. Business is business. You face your friends in court and convince everyone in the room of their incompetence, then go out for drinks.

I'm in social media. SOCIAL media. Where we use a lot of exclamation points to convey enthusiasm and smiley faces to encourage patience. Emotion is integral.

I agree with Michelle. Business is people. I have watched Jerry Maguire more times than I could ever count, but that man was onto something. ;)

Re: I’m Taking you Back, Toyota

I was fascinated by your Toyota story. More fascinated as I watched how you chose to handle it.

I am endlessly suspicious and critical of bloggers that take their complaints to twitter in a heated frenzy. Around Christmas, you'd have thought Best Buy was giving away free iPod's to everyone that complained on twitter. It was sketchy behavior, at best.

There's a place for publicly voicing our discontent. Sitting right next to that place is a willingness and goal to see things improve across the board, not just to get free stuff.

Well done.

Re: New Design, New Me

I like the new logo because it reminds me of Jem and the Holograms.

Remember Jem? Man, she was cool. Just like you. Only, um, more pink. And spiky.

Here's an image, for all of you young folk:
http://www.antiquiet.com/wp...

Re: cre8Buzz Re-Do: cre8Buzz 2008 Goals

If I had any idea as to what is reasonable regarding traffic, I would answer if you are being too aggressive or not. I say shoot high, then if you fall short, you are most likely beyond your "more reasonable" goals anyway.

By the way, Blog Nosh Magazine is in its third week and we are already changing our plan. As in, I just posted about it today and did so transparently for our audience. Roll with it, baby.

I swear, the more flexible, the more transparent, the more willing to fly by the seat of our pants, the better.
