... range is always the major defining factor in any purchase decision. Now acceptable for urban 9-5 commuters to the cubicle and soccer mom grocery getters; the 200mi plus EV is OK but for the road warrior; not so much. But that's where the research is going full tilt, and I see 500+mile entry level EV's not so far in our future; that's likely better than a tank of gas in most IceMobiles...and when that happens.. we're there.

Oh...so they didn't gas up the chopper?? Sudden fuel starvation is not an option; as a pilot myself, your fuel supply is about the first thing you check before flying out, and a good chopper pilot is well trained to do autorotation in case of engine failure right from the get go...

Like the Japanese did decades ago, the Chinese will soon be eating our lunch... burdened with high union costs, exorbitant taxes, endless rules and requirements, there is no way the North American or even pricier European manufacturers can compete with the Chinese who will gladly even use slave labor as a means to an end. We will soon be seeing nice sub $15 or $20 grand electric grocery getters that get real world 400 miles on the market. Sorry, but cachet or the cub-appeal of a badge or marquis in your driveway only goes so far. I prefer to spend my money on utility, not bling.

I just cringe when the sales guy in a sports jacket and fortrel pants comes gandy dancing out the door with a... "have I got a deal for you" opener. Then it's "..I gotta check with sales manager on this or that..." as the negotiations continue. I like the Mexican way... the no dicker sticker price you see is the price you pay.. there it's the law. Take it or leave it. My car is a Mexican car.

And remember when it comes to required icemobile warranty maintenance intervals and after warranty repairs; suddenly mechanics become lawyers with the heart stopping fees to match.

He's driving a flat as a pancake turnpike...Do it again but try no A/C, 55 or 60 mph, and just a little extra pressure in the tyres. Then come back and tell us. Going to 70mph you probably burn an extra 20% in juice...bet you'd get an extra 20 or 30 miles if you went slower. In EV's pedal to the metal can easily turn into a 'hurry up and wait' situation.. and then that $hameful tow.

Sarah, happens a lot in Canada.. until their status is determined refugee immigrants, at one time entire families, are commonly thrown into immigration detention, really a provincial jail, for an indeterminate period of time... some have been incarcerated for over 3 years with no end in sight, no hearings, nothing they are just forgotten. The provinces are getting fed up with it and are telling Immigration Canada to build their own jails if that's what they want.

... my neighbour has Starlink and uses VOiP (MagicJack) and she says their conversations are normal with little delay... download latency is deceiving and is not necessarily the latency of the system rather it takes into account the latency generated by YOUR personal situation and on your connection. If you have a couple of 4K TV's grinding away watching novellas or a server setup going with many IP's, the download latency will be affected and will be different than the ping. Ping is not download latency... Look at your Telmex download latency.. you'll likely see something similar.. Mine was 204ms yet my VOiP works fine.

2 Ubiquiti point to point antennas one on a mountain top and the other at the 'head end'.. the overall latency will be increased by a paltry 2 or 3ms.. I know I've done it.

Somehow folks think the sun still rises and sets on Hugh's and ViaSat with the 700ms latency from their geostationary SAT'S. Phone conversations become like 2 way radio communications.. just say "over"... and wait... and wait.

...sweet, mine is enroute and will be delivered on Monday. The article failed to point out that your 'Dishy' is not geofenced, and for a small fee you can use it in a portability configuration. I have seen packet latency (also known as ping) as low as 40ms, great for VOiP applications and Zoom meetings. The new units only draw 33 watts instead of over 100; important because electricity can be expensive here.. even off grid is now possible.

We tried again and again to get TelMex to install a DSLAM or bring fiber for improved service into Punta Perula and neighborhood. The 1mbps of on again-off again DSL from a neighboring town 6 km away doesn't cut it anymore and is technically illegal.. too far. But all we got was nothing but that 'how dare you ask' (for improved internet) attitude from the CSR drones in Manzanillo. Slim.. the now richest man in the world is nipping at your heels.

The 'war on drugs' is lost, but there are a lot of vested interests in maintaining the fight, particularly under the pressure from the USA. Back in the early 1900's drugs were not an issue or problem and there were countless 'opium dens' in San Francisco, Vancouver and Victoria. Heroin was widely available. Recreational drugs were not unlawful then... so why are they now? Time to follow the lead of Portugal and decriminalize the activity.
