Zimmerman and his legal team are entitled to much more that that. Zimmerman should sue the state for wrongful prosecution - they wouldn't have even considered the case if it weren't for political pressure.

Your knee jerk reaction (called that for a reason) to " do something about gun control" (though you didn't suggest what) is typical, but absolutely will do no good. Your right to express your opinion on this message board is protected by the 1st Amendment to the Constitution and that right is guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. Taking our Constitituion and Bill of Rights and carving up the things we don't like 'today' is a very slippery slope to negotiate. You may never find a cure for these awful, cowardly acts, but stricter gun control just simply isn't the answer.

Sorry, snasm, your premise has been PROVED wrong numerous times. Everytime another state considered allowing Concealed Carry, the Brady Campaign and other Gun Control groups would warn of Wild, wild west scenarios cropping up all over the place........and now, 44 states later, it just hasn't happened. In fact, reported crimes have gone now substantially, except in cases/areas where the psychopath realizes that no one else would have a gun - that is what the cowards are looking for.

Agreed. I wouldn't count on someone with a handgun 'taking out' someone across a crowded and hectic movie theater, but if the gunman realized that he too was being targeted, he would likely lose his courage, realative to one who knows he is the only one armed (like the punk at VaTech).

If you were to look into the issue of gun control, really do some reading on the subject, you would feel differently. I was raised in a home with firearms, we hunted and used them regularly and no one got hurt.

If you are worried about holding the power of life and death and all that, then regulate car ownership. Regulate alcohol sales and consumption.

For what it's worth, every gun sold in this country gets registered into a data base.

The only reason a cowardly killer goes to a place like a theater is because he is pretty sure that on one else will be armed - just like at a school or university. If someone in the audience had used their concealed weapon to so much as return fire, this coward would have left the premises just as fast as he could - the shooting would have stopped.As soon as he saw armed police officers he gave up. One muzzle flash coming back in his direction and this POS coward unasses the area.It won't stop it from starting, but it will darn sure stop it sooner than the killer intended.
