So you're saying it's fine to post something saying "It's one of these people, go retaliate against them," just because the home addresses and phone numbers are public info?

Even if one of those people were the right Campbells (they aren't), it wouldn't be responsible. In fact, if a threat or worse were sent to the wrong address, and the family really wanted to pursue litigation against this blogger for posting this, they would have at least a good fighting chance as long has they had a decent attorney.

So do you have an actual argument for why its not irresponsible? I'm guessing not...

Just because it isn't ILLEGAL doesn't mean it's not irresponsible.

In that previous post, he wrote, "In other news: His parents are scumbags and they live at one of these addresses," with a hyperlink to the search.

Besides the fact that he's practically inviting people to write hate mail to these people, there's also the fact that they do NOT live at one of those addresses; Heath and Deborah Campbell live in Holland Township (Milford mailing address), and none of the 35 addresses listed were from there.

I think he did the right thing in removing the link.

Don't you think, given the nature of this story and of your own call for people not to be hateful, it's a little irresponsible to post (twice!) that list of New Jersey addresses for Deborah Campbells?

Especially since none of them look like they are the actual Heath and Deborah Campbell (who live in Holland Township, which has a Milford mailing address)?

He probably doesn't seriously think this. He's presenting the best defense possible for his client given the circumstances, which is precisely what a lawyer's job is.

Too bad the penalty for this kid wasn't steeper.
