It's a shitty part of the industry that isn't challenged by those working inside because there are simply too many enthusiasts waiting and willing to fill their positions.

Game developers tend to love what they do, and studios/publishers abuse that relationship to the extreme.

I don't think it's that hard to tell what someone's thinking if half of it comes out of their mouth "by accident". I don't know anyone that would use it enough to drop it into an insult without thinking. That's gross.

And yeah. If you call someone a n####r you're racist. Maybe just 'a bit' racist but you are intentionally saying something that is racist. You had other options but you went with the hate speech one. That's a closed book.

I think he has some legal grounds in wanting to divorce his IP from hate speech. Keep in mind that DMCA takedowns are common practice for a lot of publishers and developers for much weaker infractions and far too many of them go challenged. I don't think this will be the hill they choose to die on.

That's a weak explanation and an even weaker excuse. He's clearly using it as a derogative term in the context of the clip. He even says it with the hard r at the end, just as the guys I've been exposed to would. There's no misunderstanding there, I've no doubt they and he know it's meaning and how offensive it is to people.

And if they are only picking it up from Hollywood films, there's still plenty of discourse within those about who can or cannot get away with using the reclaimed sense of the word.

I'd be totally on board episode one if there wasn't an abundance of wolves that seems, frankly, broken if it's designed to cater towards new players. Once upon a time, I could frighten a wolf off or at least keep it at bay by waving a torch at it. Now they seem to ignore fire altogether and there's about 7 of them between the early starting point and the first township.

My appreciation for Beyond Good and Evil was it's characters, and I was most exited to see a follow on featuring the ones I already know.

I mean, I'm not gonna complain about a new and potentially interesting direction for this but it's a shame to hear that it's set way before the original. Why even stick a 2 on there?

10% off a £60 game is only good value when you can't find it for £45 elsewhere. And you'd have to spend around £330~ a year or make up for any shortfall by trading in a whole bunch more titles for the points on those.

But there are discounts, deals and other stuff with membership and they'll pay out any of the fee you haven't gotten back from purchases in points at the end of every 12 months anyway.

It's not a bad deal, it's just a way to get people to engage with the store more.

I don't have anything against Kotaku, outside of their parent company I think they've held themselves against a good set of standards when you compare to the general state of game sites available. It's not really sponsored content that I dislike either, although seeing too much of it does tend to put me off most outlets (goodbye Game Theorists).

I just hate the current push for sponsored content that doesn't disclose. It's not illegal, some people don't even view it as unethical but I think it's deceptive, tacky and it takes your audience for granted.

Let me eat these words if I ever let my own site take money to write naff press release stories.
