Scooping is so wasteful. It takes farming, transportation, bakers time/energy and other resources to get that bagel made and people just throw half of it away. Cut your bagel in half and save the rest for later, don't throw out perfectly good food. These bakers should say they wont do special orders for scooping and instead sell them a half bagel.

Cheers to an organization that allows discrimination towards people working for a better world? And jeers to people who feel like they shouldn't have to lose their jobs just because they are different? The fact that someone would have to hide their race, religion, sexuality, or ethinic background to get a job speaks badly about the company or non-profit; it does not speak badly about the individual who wants to have a job that helps other people.

The study was focused on the population of the United States. It includes analysis of about 16 million adult gay men and lesbians in the United States, including Federal Way.

I would like to note that in my column when I say "although gays and lesbians span the same range of household incomes as straight people..." I am using that as a disclaimer to make it clear that not all people fit into this lifestyle. Although there are more gays and lesbians in this economic range, it does not mean all are, and I made that very clear.

I would consider queer to be a reclaimed word, often used by GLBT youth. It has been used in TV show titles such as "Queer as Folk" and "Queer Eye For the Straight Guy." It is also used for a gay punk music genre "Queercore." I understand it may still seem like a negative word to older gays and lesbians, but it has been accepted by youth in the community. This is my word of choice as an umbrella term for GLBT individuals or groups.

If that isn't proof that I am not judgemental or resentful, then I don't know what could convince you. I actually do have friends that are against gay marriage. I feel they are wrong and that it's okay for me to be open about that. And I was simply telling missbush that I thought she had misinterpretated my article. I feel that is fair.

I'm not asking for extra money to be spent on the gay community in Federal Way. I simply would like a small amount of the money already planned on being spent towards diversity efforts in Federal Way to go towards gay diversity. We have money planned on going towards racial diversity, ethnic diversity, gender diversity, etc. Why not sexual orientation diversity? I feel that's fair.

I'm actually not asking for the city to spend extra money on Gay in Federal Way. I'm only asking that a small amount of the money already planned on being spent for diversity funding and community building go towards causes that help gays and lesbians. So the city wont pay extra money - it will simply divide the amount more fairly it already plans to spend on diversity and community building.

This funding could include awareness about AIDS/HIV (something that benefits non-gay members of our city too) or paying for teacher workshops that help teachers deal with gay and lesbian issues (such as bullying).

And thanks everyone for supporting an inclusive Federal Way.

Missbush, I pay for all the groups expenses and volunteer for free. I am not asking for taxpayers to pay for this group. I would never ask the city to pay for a private group.

When I mentioned gay people having equal funding I said that since gay people are paying taxes some of the money the local government is already putting into diversity and community building should also go to gays. That seems reasonable to me. I'm a gay American who pays taxes, and should be treated equally by the Federal Way government.

I think the real reason most council members don't want an elected mayor is because they don't like the idea of having someone above them with more power. Right now all council members are equally powerful, so they feel secure. The idea of having an elected mayor means that they are to work harder to get ideas through because they will need to have enough votes to overide a veto.

Vote yes on Proposition 1, Federal Way should adopt the Mayor/Council form of government.

Federal Way has high crime rates when it comes to violent crime, and the city council have been ignoring crime. It only makes sense that the police guild would endorse prop 1 because it would give them more power to negotiate with a public figure instead of a council group. obviously the guild knows what it is doing, it's doing what's best to make Federal Way safe.

We've tried our current form of governing throughout the history of Federal Way, and so far our city is still as culture lacking, unefficient, and unorganized as ever. Let's try something new.

Let's adopt the Mayor/Council form of government. Vote yes on Proposition 1.

Allowing citizens to elect their own mayor will improve the citizens ability to choose the direction of Federal Way. Currently the city council elects the mayor behind closed doors and without accountability to the public, they negotiate without public consent through phone calls and secret meetings.

Taylor Lautner is native american, and Michael Copon is filipino. Jacob is supposed to be native american, replacing him with a filipino guy makes no sense. Rape might be less than what it was a decade ago, but it's still twice as much as the national average! There is no excuse for this. Just because crime is down it doesn't mean that it's at an acceptable level. We have more crime than the national average and we should care about that. Just because the other surrounding areas of Washington are equally dangerous doesn't mean that it's okay. Our state and city have failed to deal with crime.

I have religious people who live next to me, and they constantly have garbage all over the yard, it's so bad the wind blows some of it in the street. They are also constantly drinking, and I saw one peeing on his house. I'm an atheist, and I have to concur with JohnGregory - stereotyping is just dumb.
