Lawd forbid they should look for ways to DECREASE spending.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Per the Tax Foundation, MA is ranked 46th for corporate tax index rate; 49th for unemployment insurance; and 45th for property taxes.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/sbtci_rankings-20071010.pdf" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/sbtci_rankings-20071010.pdf"&gt;http://www.taxfoundation.or...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Per a number of other sources, MA has the fourth highest corporate tax rate in the nation.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Brilliant, just brilliant, jacking taxes in these economic times.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The income tax repeal is looking better and better.  Let us not forget, the last time this idea reared its head, 45 percent voted in favor of it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Oh, that’s right!  We’re in MA!  The legislature never lets little things like referendums bother them!  They just keep on movin’ on down the line…&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Re: sin taxes, very few in MA that I know, who “sin”  in MA, buy in MA. The article in the Globe re: gas leak didn’t come out until Saturday, after much skepticism was voiced.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So now, we have a gas leak. Or, five of them.  Ten seconds?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It has ever been thus.  I agree with the posters who wrote, 1) move, if you can’t deal with urban living, and/or 2) get a life.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes, get the whaaaambulance, too, for the poor soul who had to sit in traffic for thirty minutes.  That run makes huge money for charity.  And, maybe you should pay attention to what goes on around town more, especially in October.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;BTW, there are usually fireworks on the Fourth.  Do your errands early, hunker down, close the doors and windows, and wait it out.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As for the spelling police – Albert Einstein couldn’t spell. Cost to produce (and yes, that would include the energy costs) and environmental impact are suspect.  (Oh, noooo!  Not environmental impact!) Sugar could be a solution.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;BTW – if you think food prices are high now, wait until the full impact of the Midwest flooding hits, on top of energy prices.  On an internet forum in Iowa, there was contemplation of slaughtering of animals before they ever get to market, because of anticipated costs.  It will probably get worse, before it gets better.
