Spending wayyyyy too much time on blog posts--which is why it ended up going dormant. But I'm feeling the urge to get it going once again... Thanks for the post!

Re: Why Guru Strategies for Blog Growth DON’T WORK… and What Does!

There aren't many blogs I find worthy of subscribing to these days but I found you through a link on a Copyblogger post today and you got me! Great job :)

Re: 23 Ways to Leverage a Blog Post for Content Marketing Success

Great graphic! Of course, some of those would take a lot more work than the original blog post! I'm not saying that's a bad thing--I've had blog posts that grew in to bigger items like white papers and so forth. But it sure would be easier to do it the other way around!

I know this is so old-fashioned, but I've actually printed out a blog post--adding some contact info and elevator speech content--and used it as handouts at networking events and business meetings. It gives them something a little more than the usual business card and drives them to sign up for my newsletter.

Re: Learn How To Think Better – Boost Profits

I'd say my weak link is getting through the information fast enough--if at all. Too many times I get called away or feel like I should be doing something else instead.

Re: My Mysterious Method To Get Referrals By IAWAB Expert Kim Duke

Great points--people have to understand it's not tit for tat. That person you referred may not give you a referral, but a killer resource or great business idea...or a referral may later come in from someone else entirely. Once you put that helpfulness energy out there, it WILL come back to you--you just may not recognize it when it does.

Re: AP Stylebook Finally Changes “e-mail” to “email”

I so wish they would just shorten e-book to ebook and uncapitalize Internet. I'm also puzzled as to why they made smartphone two words last year. Seems like the better move would have been to keep it one.

Re: The BIG Idea File: Mommy, where do ideas come from? Top 10 All-Time Best EVER Sources for Inspiration

All great ideas! My favorite has always been other industries because what can be old hat to them can be fresh and "innovative" somewhere else. But I'd say another great source is just time away from the computer and work--I often get ideas in the shower, when I'm getting ready for bed (and have finally put a memo cube for notes in the bathroom!), or walking the dogs!

Re: Magic, Energy & Ecstasy Outside the Seminar Room: Post-#Shine Wrap Up pt 3

Wow, that's so dead on. I'm an introvert who has to be "on" when I go to events with a lot of people I don't know--whether it's seminars or local meetings. And it's exhausting. That's why (like Leesa) I prefer to have my own room at these things. And sometimes I flake out on going to things if I feel like I just can't be on.

At the last 2 seminars I attended I skipped one session a day and just hung out in my room. The people I was attending with thought I was nuts but it did help some.

But it's funny--when I say I'm shy to people who know me they argue and say I'm not. (Like I wouldn't know, right?!) Because I'm definitely *not* shy if I'm with people I feel comfortable with.

Another great post, Elizabeth!

Re: Speaking, Bullsh*t, and Billionaires: Post-#Shine Wrap Up pt 2

You go girl! I'm actually a bit jealous--I've been wanting to posting something like this for a while (about both the BS and Twitter) but was too chicken to do it.

You are my hero for living your truth! :)

Tracy

Re: How to Add Usable URLs to Your Twitter Background

Good point. Thanks for coming up with it! If you have a wordpress blog and a regular website can you just use the blog address to do it I guess?

Tracy

Re: Confessions of Unprofitability

Awesome video, Elizabeth! And so true. I was at an internet conference recently where several of the speakers admitted spending tens of thousands of dollars before actually making money--and it was so refreshing to hear (although probably scared the pants off all the newbies in the audience, but that's a good thing!).

It is more challenging when you're totally supporting yourself so I'll be curious to hear how you adjust for that. One thing I have learned in the past year though is to take a hard look at what you're "investing" in for the sake of the business and WHY you want to invest in it. Looking back, some big expenses were too tied into just trying to feel more confident--rather than whether it was truly a good opportunity for learning and/or meeting prospective clients.

Re: How to Be a Smart Marketer and Still Use AWeber

I agree, I love aweber but they can be rather inflexible at times. One time I was setting up an event list and forgot to check the automation to put them on my ezine list as well, and a good number of people signed up before I realized it. Nope, no way to transfer them so now until the end of time I'll have to send the ezine to my subscriber list and that small event list.

I also find their analytics pretty good, but could be better. I told them there needs to be a better way to segment people who used to open your messages and stopped and people who never opened them (or their computer never registered that they were.) Right now you have to go message by message to figure it out.

It's almost like they need someone in the company that actually does internet marketing to think of these things as they develop the options.

Tracy

Re: 13 Social Media Marketing Firefox Addons You Should Be Using

Great collection! I just installed 3 of them and am looking forward to trying them out. Esp. if Fireshot lets me clip and annotate web copy for critiques (right now I have to use ScreenGrab, move the clip to OneNote or Adobe and annotate from there).

I don't know if it's strictly social media but I can't live without DownThemAll for all those pages with multiple pdf/mp3 downloads. Even with just one download, it's so much faster than straight Firefox!

Tracy

Re: Details for the 1st Triangle Tweetup of 09, Jan. 29th 7pm at Edge Office

I'll be there--like the idea of the food drive Ginny!

Tracy
