I'd push the issue; you're points are ALL valid. I bet a quick Google search and you could find "their" phone number (corporate, that is). I've found several people from HS (this year is 16 for me) that went way bad, but others who turned out way better than I'd imagined.

Re: OK, Here We Go Again...

Hey man, Good to see you blogging again! Your goals #2 and #3 are mine, too. Run a sub-2hr half and drop 20 pounds. I lost four pounds last week (after a couple of weeks of inactivity and eating whatever I wanted), so I'm motivated again. I know that the lighter I am, the faster I can run. I'll be following to see your progress. Good luck!

Re: SF Bound

Good luck on your new gig, gib! Here's my take: although there are always races of all distances year-round, I get the impression that a lot of runners only run them during the warmer months. I suppose that all depends on where you live. I live in the Midwest where we have snow and ice on the ground for a good part of the winter. I don't run outside much during the winter, so my running/racing "season" is from around March to November when I can run outside and not have to worry about falling on my toosh.

Oh, and I don't do the leg warmers. My wife doesn't even own a pair. But I do remember those days.
Have a great day!
Topher> Subject: [illrunfordonuts] Re: What now?> From: > To: cpstaggs@msn.com> Date: Mon, 17 Nov 2008 06:25:03 +0000> > Ms. V <vermeulens4@charter.net> (unregistered) wrote:> > I looked all over for the *change*. Just kidding; I have a pair of running tights I bought at the running store on clearance in early spring for like $20. I had them double-bag them so no one would see me walking out with a pair, but after wearing them on a couple of early morning (and very dark) runs, I was sold on running tights. I wish I would have bought two pair.

Re: What?? 2 in One Week??

I love my Garmin. I've never tried anything else (other than a regular watch and MapMyRun), though, so I'm biased.

I love me some 13.1 action. I've come to appreciate it much more training for 26.2. Now 13.1 miles seems like a short weekend long run. The training is so much more convenient (and, dare I say, easy). Plus, it's cheaper, people usually don't pay attention to the "half" part and you end up getting credit in their minds for running marathons, and you usually get the same goodies at the end (it's all about he bling and technical shirts).

Good luck to both of you. It's great you can prepare together.

Re: Again, Another Boring Blog Post

I hear you on the time thing. That was my concern at first. However, I usually do my shorter weekday runs either really, really early in the am, or late at night after the kids are in bed, the house is picked up, etc. The only kink it put in our "style" was the last couple of long runs. It was all about scheduling for me. I got out the door at 4am the day of my 20 miler and was home by 8am. The boys were just getting out of bed. I promised my wife at the outset that I wouldn't let it interfere. There were times where I had to skip runs b/c it just wouldn't work, though. I think you're the only one who knows your situation and have to do what's right for your family. Good luck regardless; man, if only I had free miles/hotel nights to cash in to do a fun race like that...

Re: Donut Friday - non-running edition

Oh, that's true. Trust me, I knew it well. Brings back memories. Glad to hear you made it back safe. When did you take those pictures? Kanji - complicated Chinese characters, 2. Hiragana - script characters representing syllables and used for Japanese words, 3 Katakana - syllable characters used for writing foreign-based words. Enjoy, and don't forget some pictures! I'm off to Montana in about six hours for a well-deserved, far-overdue vacation.

Re: Depression Sets In

Hard to stay positive, I know.
