From how it's used, I figured the best way to describe "moshi moshi" is "Hello" when you want the attention of someone. I never thought of it in it's kanji form 申し申し, but after listening to this it kinda makes sense in this way: "Hello? Say something (are you there). When someone is in their own world in a daze, saying moshi moshi is like saying: "Hey you! Say something! Good way to think of it i guess.

This is a great find! Thanks soooo much!
By the way, I also had problems with the program randomly shutting down, but the advice given above is what solved it. Just get a slightly older version of the program and things will work fine. The version I have doesn't display a drop-down menu for languages, but I can still search the list manually for the Japanese flag.

This will help alot with listening practice!

That's exactly why signs like that exist. Gaijin can always play the gaijin card and not follow rules. Although it's not cool that some places bar all foreigners out because of the idiots out there, they probably had bad experiences with gaijin enough to place a sign like that.

LOL, that was me who made that Othello correction, what a coincidence :) I tried to translate it literally from the original Japanese sentence she provided...

The 8 in lang-8 stands for infinity because you can learn any language you want on the site, not just 8 languages.
