The suit was never meant to be blue. Using blue was a way to highlight black in comics, you can see this in older comics with black hair also having blue highlights. The 60's show is what really put the idea of a blue and grey costume in our heads. The classic Batman suit should be black and grey.

So you're annoyed that the Doctor can't run 7 feet without gasping for breath and you want a Tardis with the controls miles away from the door?! I actually agree with you about the Tardis control room though, I always liked the 8th Doctor's cathedral type design and hated that the latter ones were so small.
