They always walk away with a sale in hand.

Re: • Obama’s Blunder On Iran

James
A very clear analysis of a very murky, seemingly disjointed, effort by Obama. Perhaps, to be fair, there may be a secret quid pro quo of a trade-off in return for Russia not to ship the S 300 missile defense system to Iran. This Patriot type of defense would make a preemptive strike by Israel essentially a doomed adventure. Only time can tell, but Israel cannot tolerate a nuclear enrichment facility that can produce in the 90% range in the hands of the mullahs. Perhaps MAD could work for these actors as in India and Pakistan, but I fear that Israel will not want to test that scenario.

Here is a assessment of the S 300 situation from Foreign Policy.

http://www.foreignpolicy.co...

Re: • America, End Your Fear Of Wall Street

As a new reader of your excellent blog I want to commend you on your clear and concise analysis of this above issue. I am always amazed at the disconnect that otherwise financially astute commentators and news media have when they assert that proper oversite of the Federal Reserve will alliviate the excesses of Wall St. How can intelligent people not be plagued by the vision of a very fat fox assuring us that the chickens are just fine under their watch?
While I applaud Dr. Ron Paul's bill to audit the Fed as a small step in the right direction, I fear more radical surgury will be needed if the patient is to live. To allow private bank cartels to charge us interest on our money supply is nothing short of criminal conspiracy.
Can they really claim that Congress could do any worse than what the Fed has already wrought? At the very least, half of Congress will be looking over the other sides shoulder to make sure no advantage accrues to the other party. This is a better solution than present where no one is accountable and the so-called regulators are the senior partners of the firms to be regulated.

I'll resist the urge to vent further and try to plow a field that you have so expertly sown. Kudos must be given to a bright light amidt the gloom and I feel wiser for having read your work. As I become more familiar with your essays I'm sure we may see some divergence of opinion, but as of yet you are right on the money as far as drug legalization and many other issues of fiscal waste and outright irresponsibility of our elected representitives.

The Toad is happy to be in your oasis of common sense stated uncommonly well admidst the Great Sahara of sheer wrong-headedness and outright lunacy posing as serious commentary.
