Apparently we couldn't take off because of that. Then, an HOUR later, the captain announces the part is on its way ( meanwhile several people have missed their connected flight and complaining). Then 45 minutes later the captain says the part won't be arriving tonight so then everyone was asked to deboard the plane and catch a later flight, and by later I mean it's not arriving until 10:20 pm and it's 3 pm. Total wait time: 13.5 hours. How's that? :)

Re: Pop Culture Power Rankings, July 15, 2013

I'm terribly disturbed by Sharknado. I can't get away from content analysis and auditing a brand's social networks to see how they could make their content more engaging and produce active users/advocates at a faster rate.

Re: PR Pro’s New Title: Content Marketers

That's the million dollar question, Sam. I share a similar experience when I was at a "Meet the Pros" event on behalf of my alma mater. I was a guest speaker on the subject of social media and there were about 50 students in the room. Of those 50, 10 came up to me afterward and said they wanted to come into to the agency at which I am currently employed to learn more, and I walked away with 10 resumes to review and provide feedback on that night. Here's the clincher: no one followed up - card, e-mail, tweet, nothing. And on another note, it's important to remember that people remember things -- so if I were to meet one of those students later on in their career, I'd remember they never followed up and still wouldn't have the best impression of them. Hopefully, at that time, they'd be wiser.

However, for those that do follow up, thank you cards that are clearly "form" and don't carry much thoughtfulness are a clear indicator that you're shopping the job market, not necessarily passionate. Just desperate.

Re: Eight Companies With the Potential to Disrupt the Media

I like ProConIt. Seems to be a great way to actually qualify positive and negative sentiment surrounding a topic or brand. That is something that is severely lacking with social media monitoring platforms.

Re: http://timotis.tumblr.com/post/5799399813

Yes, that's actually what I pulled these list of chats from. But there are so many that I wanted to help PR people narrow them down. It's a great resource.

Re: Is Klout a Good Judge of Your Social Media Influence?

I agree with David that it's a huge work in progress. I'm also not wild about the +K influencer endorsement, because, as Elijah pointed out, suddenly he can get a "+1" for aviary. And this supposed "influence" is really just semantics for the fact that someone is really good at building relationships -- and through that, can be determined an influencer. I wrote a rant about the many things wrong with Klout, but sadly I failed to include the fact that Klout uses its influence rating to scale everything else. Here's my post if anyone's interested: http://timotis.tumblr.com/p...

Re: http://timotis.tumblr.com/post/6513132084

Again, I can't thank you enough for answering my e-mail and providing actionables/steps to become a business sponge in a very noisy environment and industry. Yes, I use Paper.li just to stay abreast of stories I'd otherwise not have known about, and to me that's valuable. I actually read my own paper, haha. And I'll be sure not to send you 25 updates. I think my paper is set to distribute only once a day.

Re: Who’s Not Talking About Bin Laden?

Jason,
Great thoughts! Especially in this day and age, it's important to make sure all news is streamlined in terms of messaging, but it has and will continue to be all over the place. I find that scattered accounts leads me to believe that clearly we have not heard the true accurate account of what happened. And I don't think we ever will. Time to move on and learn from this I guess.

Re: Experience vs. Education

Ben, where are you taking boxing classes at? Though, right now I'm only using it as a personal blog. But I can see the value of it to external audiences -- whether it be for agency/firm recruitment, branding, or marketing a service or product. Thanks for the insight.

Re: Do you have FOMO?

I should mention that FOMO doesn't just apply to those who are married and living vicariously through their friends' updates; rather FOMO affects everyone. In a world that can be oftentimes steeped in legalities, this deserves some credit.
