My family are all North London, I went to my first match aged six and then regularly from age 9 until age 29 when I moved to the USA. I feared I would miss nothing about England as much as going to the Arsenal every other weekend nine months of the year. 15 years later I miss it even more than I feared but (strangely) love the club just as much as ever.

Good blogs, bad blogs and those in between all allow you to keep a semblance of terrace banter, and everywhere I've lived over here (Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles and now San Diego) has a pub filled with regulars with as much passion as you could hope for. Soon I hope our ten year old boy will go across the Atlantic to see his first match (I'll need to take him to keep him off my case) and I'll feel guilty that he can't go every week like we used to. Thanks for the blog, sincerely hope you keep writing it from this side of the water too. COYG

A great write up and indeed a massive result - where this season takes us is still unknown but it looks and feels like a far more sun-kissed path to travel now. Arguably the most enjoyable game of the season, wish I wasn't 5,500 miles away. I was five for my first Highbury match, don't remember a thing. Memories really kick in for the first match of ('76?) - Supermac and a loss to Bristol City in blistering hot weather when I eight.

Funny..took our 10 year old (now a mad Gooner) to see our local professional team (San Diego) tonight, keen young players...think semi professional, well down the league pyramid. Young Jack kept asking me 'Do you think San Diego might sign Bendtner?' In between that, him asking when we'll go to London and a 3-0 win it was a good night. He liked an opposing winger who 'had Ozil's haircut'

Search volumes have more than decreased - there's no way of carrying any baseline over from the keyword tool - best off to start 'fresh'

No complaints from the last 3 matches but your points; "That’s it. Eleven players." are so bleak I had to double check...and it really is true. Those eleven that we have are so deserving of adequate depth behind them it'd be tragic for this season to be the one where once again we're left saying 'if only'.

It all sounded so far-fetched that we'd go and get (need) half a dozen new signings this summer and now the reality is anything less than four incoming would be simple negligence.

Quietly optimisitic..as ever. This also needs to be a season when a youngster (Gnabry? Ryo?) makes the full leap to first team level.

Cheers for the mention, I'm sure Mick Jones in particular was amazed that his idols as a kid then wanted to see him perform or indeed work with him (Guy Stevens had produced Mott The Hoople). Jones grew up a music fan and remains so.

Nice account as always. It was one of those matches that Foy simply seemed to have no idea of how to control it. Stoke's persistent hacking (esp. of Walcott) was just ignored from the very early going. The last 15 minutes showed that nobody on the pitch felt any punishment was going to be given by the official. Glad that the energy didn't drop and considering many always moan at Wenger's rotation and subs I thought he got it right today. How good is Jack becoming by the way?

Will there even be a need for record labels in 5 more years? Is there one now? Artists (newer) know that touring is once again the best viable way to make a living and if you're still attending concerts you'll have noticed that in the 100% increase in ticket prices over the last decade. Spotify would call success gradually increasing the subscriber pace to 7-8 million in the next three years but what the artists stand to gain as a result is essentially feeble.
