RAP has posted a position and a blog post. I thought I'd share the link to the blog section so people can comment there if they wish: http://riverside-avondale.b...
Its a hot button issue yo. Within you can find a link there to their thoughtful take on the plan proposed. One of the comments on the RAP blog thinly suggests that BSRG is expecting to be entitled to a pass because people love their restaurants. I feel like this is unfair to the developers, their plan, and their commitment to the neighborhood, personally. I, probably as much as anyone lately, have railed publicly against variances and exceptions and our torn to shreds comprehensive plan and codes. I can't stand that anyone who can hire a land use attorney can do pretty much whatever they want in Duval County. Safe money is that this is probably what will happen here to. I've heard from some that my (this) post about this project was biased. I didn't know I couldn't support a project for all the reasons I liked it but I understood the gripe. When I gathered concerns about the project I asked Allan about them (the ones I had heard) on the podcast posted just above this article. Today, I was sent a quote of my post from www.metrojacksonville.com: "Here's a quote from the developer's public relations spinners:
'You can bet there will be a sizable bike rack to support the large number of cyclists in the community.'" Negative Ghostrider. I heard there will be a sizable bike rack from the developer and there are a number of cyclists in the neighborhood. Why would sizable bike racks be spin anyway? You don't like em? Trust me we are not sophisticated enough to have a bike rack for parking swap in our overlays, but you know that. I don't do message boards. I've railed agains them too, especially the whack people who hide behind fake names but I want to be clear. (I also don't like comments but look where I am). I do no public relations for BSRG and my firm does more work (currently) for RAP than BSRG (noted we work with BSRG in the disclaimer, mostly because it WAS positive) and if I did PR work for anybody it wouldn't be "spin", it would be truth. Otherwise, I'd say something like: RAP sounds like they want a 20 space carport with a big tree and huge sidewalks. Jeez, that even sounds like a message board. Anyway. This post was my take on a project. Its RAP's job to discuss massing, car and code requirements. I don't feel like one should ever hesitate to discuss what they like and don't like about their city. I don't begrudge RAP for doing their job either. I hope you agree.

Re: Black Sheep Restaurant Group Planning New Restaurant for 5 Points Next To Mossfire

I failed to credit Design Cooperative for the design and scale model. Mack from SRG should be congratulated on having enough patience and thoughtfulness to keep it open for as long as it was there. It was a great space for this use and I think it is now a place. That is because the boys worked hard and did good things. Hopefully something cool will replace it and the Bees will all find a great new hive. The BBB Show was a lot of fun last year. Buy a raffle ticket and go home with something hand made on Main St. I don't see the controversy in the ad except that the model prob would have been better fit with a back pack.

Re: Urban Jacksonville Weekly #34 – Bring Your Own Topic and New Time Slot for the Show!

Good stuff. Anthropologically speaking nothing makes me feel better or cooler than buying local art that one day my kids will thank me for handing down, like I do when my mom gives me some cool thing from her past. Some artists and crafts people make money at events like art walk and ram but those are mostly folks who have found things that people want to cherish as possessions at an accessible price. No easy feat but ultimately, I think, attainable. I also think that artists need to trade work more. Get some inventory out of the studio and bring in and expose some compatriots. Anyway been thinking about it lately obvs. Keep working duval.

Re: I’m Speaking at Content, Conversion, Community: The Keys to Online Marketing

15,000 more followers in one hour!
