Those stickers are not the best, but for stickers, they are pretty good. If you want to try your hand at water slide decals, I've had a lot of success ordering from Samueldecal before. He has a lot of decal sets available.

Re: Applying Waterslide Decals with a Modeling Tray

Does this HG kit even come with water slide decals? Is it possible these were dry rub decals you were soaking?

Re: Building the Gundam - 08

Awesome work! These are powerful ships of war! Though, at this scale they are kind of cute... and fiddly...

Re: I Liked Anime Before It Was Cool...

Perfect Grade? You are serious about your Gundam! I've spent money on kits lower quality and higher quality than Perfect Grade, but I've not yet bought a Perfect Grade. Maybe one day...

Re: I Liked Anime Before It Was Cool...

I'm not sure honestly. I've recently built a Real Grade Gundam kit and all I did was hit it with Testors Dulcote and it looks amazing. I may go that route, but I'll at least panel line it. I'm just not sure I can pre-shade something this scale, so paint would be of minimal value if I can not. I'll toss up some pics of the Gundam soon. It's really amazing how good it looks just with the plastic shine knocked off.

In the mean time, I've just built the little bonus carrier. It was fun in a no brainer kind of way. I only painted the white stripes on the landing decks. I'll Dulcote it and paint the stand black and call it done. Pics of that to come as well.

Re: Building the Gundam - 07

I've not started the build, but I have posted a preview...

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

There are so many ways to paint flesh... and I seem to be able to butcher all of them. There are a lot of people in a smaller geographical area with an interest in playing with older rules, ideals, and in some cases minis. Over here there just aren't as many people into it. I can teach my kids to play Rogue Trader when they get bigger though. Something to look forward to at least.

Re: Playsets

I tossed $5 in the pot. I don't know that I'd have any friends even long distance to play with on it. Still, I may have to break my KS moratorium and pledge a couple bucks for the cause. It does look pretty cool! Thanks for the heads up on this one!

Re: Now I have a machine-gun Ho-Ho-Ho!

I've been tempted to look into airsoft a few times. An online friend in the UK had me order him some bit or bob that was unavailable to ship to the UK from the shop. This had me perusing guns for a bit. I managed to resist that time, but if I found a group of airsofters near me, all bets may be off.

Re: A lot of things, but not a lot of any one thing

Yes, the 'one more turn' monster. I fall into the trap of 'too exhausted to do anything so I play video games' too. Never too tired to play Minecraft.

Glad to see you at least got a tiny amount done on the Gundam. I've got a Real Grade GP01fb that I need to work on. The Real Grades kits are very nice and molded completely in color. The last one I did I just sprayed Dulcote on it to take the plastic shine off and it looks amazing. This one I'm going a little further on with some decals from Samuel Decal and some panel lining. I'll have to post something up when I get back on it.

Re: I'm Back!

It's good to be back! Now, if I can just find time to post some blogs. I'm really enjoying the idea of Oldhammer. I know it's partly just nostalgia, but there is no arguing (with us old fogies) that older style narrative play is better. I will say that a lot of the newer miniatures are technically superior, but a lot of the old stuff has charisma that can't be matched. I wonder, would it be a sin to play "The Battle At The Farm" with more modern minis?

Re: I'm Back!

Thanks! The Dragon Ogres are a real treat. Nick Bibby did such a great job on them. He's still a sculptor and does a lot of work for bronze castings. He recently finished up a life sized Kodiak bear, it's huge. Most of his new stuff is out of my price range but I can still enjoy his old stuff!

Re: Dreadball Unboxing!

Your songs definitely made the wait more bearable! I've always been a modeler. When I was about five or six years old (circa 1979) my dad would buy me the snap-tight WWII airplanes at the grocery store. I'd have them finished before we got home then play with them for days. I've always loved modeling and I'm not sure when gaming slipped in, but it just never worked for me. It's only effect was to muddy the waters of what I really enjoyed. So for now, I'm just going to build models I love. I already have a line-up of kits to build and even a few that I want to try to rebuild. I'm not going to worry about gaming... unless my kids turn into avid gamers somehow... then I'll teach them to play Rogue Trader!

Re: The Inner Geek state of the Union Address

I'll definitely be lurking till I have time to post again. It's really not so much goodbye as so long for now. I'll be back in one form or another, just probably not for a few months, and probably not so GW themed. I can be like you GW hobbyists' crazy cousin that builds Gundam kits.
