Thank you, Friend of Roget. I notice that you completely ignored the meaning of "nonlegal", which was the term under discussion. Here it is, per Dictionary.com: "nonlegal, adjective, 1. not related to, qualified for, or phrased in the manner of the practice of law (distinguished from illegal)" Now, it's entirely possible that the nonlegal strategies they discussed were also illegal, but the title of this memo is not evidence of that.

"Nonlegal" is not a synonymn for illegal. If someone's dog keeps digging up your rose bushes, you might pursue a legal strategy (going to court with your neighbor) or a nonlegal strategy (asking your neighbor to keep the dog away, or building a fence). In the absence of an attachement describing illegal options, this is not evidence of any wrongdoing.

The current flag strangely has 8 other flags or banners represented on it, and the meaning of the largest of these isn't even known!. (WTH?) It also contains a red-faced indian (racist, much?) and a christian cross (separation of church and state, please?) and at least one building that no longer exists. The image of "barley" looks almost entirely unlike actual barley.

I kind of like the "sunrise over the lake" flag (presumably, the sun, lake and rivers will survive another century or so, so it shouldn't be obsolete too soon.)... though I'd like to see the word "Milwaukee" added to it.

As I understand it, even on the surface of the earth, diamond rarity is a myth enforced by the DeBeers monopoly. Note to the Author and Editor (if any): it is confusing when you shift between metric units and imerial units without offering conversions. 8-9 miles is roughly 13-14 km.

If by "the epitome of human reason" you mean, "the kind of garbage we so often come up with without justification", then I agree. I think it's better to acknowledge that we don't know what happened before the big bang. Once we do that, I can only think of two worthy reasons to talk about it: 1) it's fun to make up stories, so long as we don't make the mistake of believing them to be true without evidence, and 2) we just might come up with a testable hypothesis, which can push the edge of ignorance back a bit further.

Why is anybody doing weddings for pay? This whole "solemnization" of weddings thing is just a racket for priests and judges. It should be 1) buy a marriage license, 2) activate the license (by signing it with witnesses and filing it within 3 days), 3) pass the waiting period (a week?) and Bam! you're married!

"2,340 gallons of ethanol (pure alcohol) per capita a year." This is nonsense. That would work out to almost 600,000 12 ounce Miller Lites per person per year, or over 1600 beers per person per day. We'd all be dead.
