I have no problem with the nesting, but I'd luuuuuurve a popup window instead of a whole separate page for every comment thread I want to see.

Also, unless there's some sort of new comment alert feature that can be turned on (either by the mods or at the user end), this may hurt the Pub.

Heh. But in another way it's totally creepy that someone can just cruise on over there and see every Shakesville comment I've ever made, out of context. Context can be very important. The middle of a 750-comment pub thread feels pretty safe, cause most casual readers aren't going to bother reading all the way through it, and if they do, they'll understand the mood and the direction of the conversation by the time they get there.

So anyway. My suggestion is that the Disqus user profile offer the option of disabling the public view of "all comments ever". I've looked pretty carefully and it doesn't seem to be an option at the moment.

ETA: Oh! Here's a thought. If they want to get all fancy someday, and seeing as how they do want to promote community among commenters, they could introduce some sort of "Friend" system, and you could allow your friends to view "all comments ever" even if the public can't. That would be even better.

Re: On the Phone With Space Cowboy Tales

I'm given to understand that this little item can launch a fart clear across a room.

Just in case anyone needed to know that.

Re: Caption This Photo

Wow.
