If So Cal is sooooo entrenched, and sooooo establsihed, and the won the court battle, got the TM, blah blah blah...why so defensive AA?

Post another 150x how old SoCal's use of "USC" and "SC"...post it 10,000 times....it won't change anything; East of the Miss R. (and surely south of the Mason Dixon)--"USC"=University of South Carolina, and "SC" = "South Carolina"... and "Trojans" are just rubber balloon like objects that us GATORS (<----hint) and other non-Cali types wrapped our peckers in, in order not to get "cooties", back in our partyin' days (I'm married with quid these days)...

I'm just havin' a little fun anyway--I like mess' with Trojan Fan when ever I get the chance--which is hardly ever. There just aren't many Trojan Fans around these parts (i.e.--SEC country)....

...and, Im check'n back out anyway---the new FB software runs like molasses in the dead of winter on my POS computer, and I haven't the patience....

I love the SEC but.....I can't reconcile the possibility of a N. Champ taht didn't even with their confrernece--or even their f'n divison. I'd be a hypocrite to pretend otehrewise--in '06, when Michiian and OSU were being considere for the same deal--I thought it positvely absurd.

Still do.

Even if 'bama and LSU are head and sholders above the rest...it's just and absurd notion to me.

Respectfully disagree, re. Favre. I seriously haven't seen a quarterback take that kind of drubbing since Danny Wuerffel got thrown around the yard more than the football in Tallahassee, in '96 (before getting sweet revenge in New Orleans). Favre carrries a lot of clout, but those refs weren't doing anything out of line (IMO) to protect him. Not calling foul there, but the refs were "protecting" him less than our gubm't protects "alleged" terrorists these days.

Besides, New Orleans is the NFL darling here. Favre v. Manning woulda' been a fair draw, but "New Orleans bounces back from Katrina"; "all hail Reggie Bush and Drew Brees for saving NOLA"--that's your money story right there. We'll be hearing clear up to the Super Bowl, then, if the Saints win, well into next year.

Maybe Congress should "fix" professional sports while they're at it. The NFL flagrantly favors teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys; the MLB favors the Yanks, Red Sox, the Dodgers...the NBA the Celtics, Bulls, Lakers... Favoritism seems to be an integral part of sports SUCCESS--and maybe that's because the very lifeblood that flows through their veins, is green.

Is it really gonna get any better to have a rigged playoff, than a rigged bowl system?

Here's my suggestion to Congress--rather than wonderin' how they can "fix" CFB, how about takin' a note or two from professional sports and CFB, and try generating a f'n profit for a change?

Now THAT, would be "change" even this ol' stick in the mud could get behind.

Don't you think the STATES would have factored in for those? Shouldn't the STATES at least have had to opportunity to debate the matter?

I don't like govermnet regulation anymore than you or most anyone else on here--but I'd rather such this matter be taken up at the state level, than have the Feds dictate from on high--especially when the dictate comes from an unelected, unaccountable government body.

Suggested reading: Roe v. Wade opinion; then read the Dred Scott opinion.

Now compare & contrast.

I think you'll find the parallel eerily uncanny.

Clarification:

1. By "merit," I mean a rational basis--not conceding the premise, which impmlies a NET INCREASE in PEOPLE on public assistance (or corresonding inc. in costs); I dispute that assertion, as nothing I've seen in your links, or been able to find indepent of your links, supports that WM has caused such an increase before (or without) WM--only that there are many of their employees who are receiving public HC.

2. Second clause under "1." above should read:

I revisited those AFL/CIO articles--withholding any judgment on the sources--both basically butress your claim that WM cuases more people to need medicaid or other state funded healthcare, because they don't provide beny's to their employees. I'll concede some merit to the claim, though I'm not purusaded that this is somehow "evil" of WM, or even inherently detrimental to society.

A few considerations:

1. What healthcare were these employees allegedly receiving before coming to WM?

--recall: most of the business casualties to WM, are small business that didn't provide beney's anyway.

--is it somehow better to uninsured unemployed, than employed and uninsured citizens?

2. What would it cost local economies, if WM decided to provide HC beny's to its 'ees?

--Factor in for a large swell in unemployment;

--in addition to loss of their tax contributions, those newly unemplyed wouldn't have any healthcare either--at least not for quite some time;

3. It would result in an increase in prices at WM (and therefore decreased accessibilites to necessities);

4. Almost inevitably, new competition would arise--which would not provide HC to its employees--in order to undercut (or at least compete with) WM.

I don't see much progress there.

As for "winning a discussion"--I thought that's what you were doing ("I made my point"). I wasn't "declaring victory"; I was simply saying I don't think you "made your piont"; I think it fell short.

Again, the inquiry was sincere. I've heard a few sideswipes at WM, but never really bothered to look into it. This little discussion would be my first foray into the wonderful world of Walmart contorversy. (That said, the responses it provoked, triggered some of my natural capitalist reactions).

Finally: Major Wright, Janoris Jenkins, Ahmad Black, Justin Trattau, Will Hill, and Brandon Hicks, maybe a couple of others. I'm pretty sure Carlos Dunlap declared for the draft, but if not, he'd be back too. Sure, we lost a lot. The stars were nicely aligned or '09; they just didn't play out. But we've got a decent base coming back.

I'm more concerned with losing our DC, Charlie Strong, than the players though. His system was effective at getting the most out of what he had to work with.

I challenged your assertions--(that's how you get to the truth; by challenging assertions--e.g.--scientific method begins by someone proposing a hypothesis, and fellow scientists challenge it. If it survives scruitiny, it becomes theory). I inquired with an open mind. Show me how and why Walmart is so evil. Y'all replied; I found the "basis" lacking.

2 of the 3 links provided by buckstops were AFL/CIO. That's almost funny. That would be like me directing you to Walmart's official website to see how they addressed your allegations.

I read through the other one and found a bunch of skewed and manipulated "evidence"--like the one I pointed out: "economic DEVELOPMENT subsidies" characterized as charitable "giveaways". That's f'n insulting to any reasonable person's intelligence. The whole report is basically saying that "...Walmart rapes taxpayers by taking advantage of poor unsuspecting goverment officials, in the middle of the night, by making them give them land, discount taxes, blah, blah blah...." Are you f'n kidding? Seriously? Those government bodies didn't get ANYTHING in return for backing off of their taxes? Those lands would have been more productive in WM hadn't occupied them??? Where was that part of the analysis in the report????

Maybe YOU should get your own head out of your own a$$, and try opening your own f'n eyes. Actually seek the truth, not what you hope it is, then hope some likeminded folk can help you back it up.

As for the time we spent on it--1st, I enjoy adverse discourse; 2. I found it somewhat educational and therefore rewarding; 3. I can post and talk budniz on the phone at the same time (speaker phone), so the time isn't wasted.
