That explains a lot. Now I can see why they would at least put the project on hold for a long time. Another game that was more like a simulator wouldn't be a bad idea though.

I have not played this game but maybe this could actually be used as an educational tool. Maybe have a crisis simulation mode that would teach people how to survive and help others in a real natural disaster.

it would be nice to see these in the import store. It would make getting that PlayStation plus subscription service worth it since you can get import psone games for $3(versus 600yen)

At first I thought they were spreading themselves too thin with Experia Play and PSP but their Strategy may actually work. If iPad is not too big, neither is this.

I was thinking they needed to do one product that could also double as a phone and that was more DS/Android/iPhone-ish but they are doing their own thing now which is good. This new PSP is not pocket-games but more a portable full on gaming solution.

I am buying one for sure.

if they play this right, it will have a way to play Monster Hunter 3 with added online features. if they pull this off, I think a lot of people will by it from the start.

no, I remember too well. I wish I was too young.
I got my first Walkman in early 80s.
Sony invented the designer electronic gadget that you lusted after in my opinion.
I remember reading Sony Style the magazine(booklet) and daydreaming about having my own living room of the future.
that is probably part of why I hope this is a success for them I just worry about them launching two separate platforms and have them being successful.
Also, I would love to have a PSP2 phone. would hate to carry around a PSP2 and a phone.

there needs to be a phone version of PSP2, not a whole other platform.
two platforms is just going to result in a lot of confused customers.
keep it simple SONY. you never seem to learn.
having said that I hope it turns out well for them.

I do actually and I just cannot think of when I would be able to use it.

I do see that advantage of having your data in Atrix and the cloud and having your own connection to the net. Not leaving your data on someone else computer is also a great thing.

Borrowing a keyboard and monitor at someone else's studio is where it gets weird. You will need to have your dock and cable and someone at the studio will need to have a spare monitor and keyboard. It just seems easier to carry a netbook around with you. But, your situation may be unique, I just dont think that is the norm.

Hooking up HDMI to a hotel room television I think is not an Atrix-unique feature.

And, for the modders, you have a point that I was kind of thinking about in the back of my mind. Real time coding for android apps could be really cool.

I think calling it a "gimmick" was going too far but I do think a lot of people are getting excited for features that are actually not going to use.

Don't get me wrong, I like the concept, just not sure when I would use it. Maybe when a netbook and a smartphone's difference in horspower becomes negligible, having the netbook attachment would work for me. Keeping all my "portable data" in one place.

this seems like a gimmick to me. why would we need this? if you have a keyboard and a monitor you probably already have a computer hooked up to it. If you want to access files from the phone to the computer, transfer them.

maybe I am missing something that it does that makes it practical?

I do not watch very much anime but I loved Gunbuster when I first saw it almost 20 years ago on VHS. I was really really disappointed when I bought the blu-ray release to release so much of the orginal series was taken out and made into a two hour movie. Will there be a proper blu-ray release of the original longer series?
I could not get through 10 minutes of "Diebuster" so I really cannot say much about it.

it is totally slick and looks great but having just played GOW3 the timing is a little bit bad. I wish they would change it up a bit, since it is on PSP maybe slow the action down a bit and make it more of an adventure game. Also, I know this is hard since it is Greek Mythology based but once again it is the same color tones in the environment.
I swear I am going to get carpal tunnel playing while wrapping my hands around the PSP.
Still, the new weapon is great and the battles are great etc. I am definitely going to get it probably this year.

A lot of what is misleading is the conversion to dollars. It is 83 yen to 1 dollar. When I first move to Japan it was 120 yen to 1 dollar so that is a big difference. So, everywhere articles are writing $300 and to an American in this economy that is really expensive.
This may be a perfect way for Nintendo to market research from peoples reaction and set a price in the US. I think Nintendo wants to see if they can put it on the market for $250 but hopefully it will be $200. No one will buy that for $300 in the states.

no, I hear you. and the people who make this site seem pretty high quality and I hope they are making some nice money off the site.

but, a forced mandatory trailer at the beginning of the video is a little much. especially one that is not targeted at its users and that repeats for every video that is posted. at least make it a variety of boring movie trailers.

if it is video, I usually go to youtube or another site. just a little feedback I guess.

you have a great site that I have been following for a while and hope you can make money on the web ads etc but this mandatory trailer on videos is kind of annoying. It is not related to anything Siliconera and it is the same trailer over and over again.

I liked Mario Hoops 3-on-3 DS a lot although didnt like it enough to beat that FF b-ball at the end. But, yeah, NBA-Jam will probably be more fun.
