Count me in Reece. Great article, I too have looked into creating my own games and starting my own company, there's a few points here I didn't consider such as requiring a translator/liaison. Great article and good product plug, se you on Kickstarter!

In regards to the counter clutter, you can just agree to keep your counters on the corresponding ship card instead of placing them on the table. The only downside of this is if you want to easily identify which enemy ship is evading you'll have to work out which card corresponds but assuming you've numbered them etc it should be easy to work it out.

I absolutely love X-Wing. In a world full of thousands of Kickstarter minis that are still to be assembled and painted, it's great to have such a tactically refreshing game ready to play right out the box and one that requires no terrain beyond the asteroid tokens included in the box, any flat surface is a playing space, 3x3 is recommended but the game still works on any decent table space. Plus I'm a massive Star Wars nerd that couldn't avoid this if I tried :P

Beyond the simplicity if the base rules, and the "follow the text" special rules (if it tells you to do something, do it, if it doesn't, don't)
There's a brilliant "theory wars" in the squadron planning stage where you can mix and match upgrades and special abilities to find whole new synergistic abilities. For example:
Soontir Fell TIE Interceptor (When you receive a stress token, you may assign 1 focus token to your ship.) with "push the limit" (Once per round after you perform an action, you may perform 1 free action shown in your action bar. Then receive 1 stress token.)
Now you have a fighter that can move, perform it's 1 action (boost or focus for example) then perform a second action (evade maybe) gaining a stress token which assigns a focus token automatically to his ship. A beast of a pilot skill!!

I'm having lots of fun finding out all the weird and wonderful combos you can create by flying ships near to each other and kitting them out differently or just using their movement to gain special abilities whilst staying effective on the battlefield.

Good to see BOLS wasn't affected by the DMCA stuff, I thought it odd as 99% of BOLS articles are "home-made" original content, along with other game systems not GW related. As opposed to natfka's photos of WD (which is a bit cheeky to be fair)

As punitive action against GW all rumours relating to GW releases should just be reported with the following line

"A large miniatures company is allegedly releasing something in the future"

All the other companies can still get large pictures and gossip to get the community excited.

That is one way, but another is to go to a DIY shop or builders yard (B&Q in the UK) and get a load of polystyrene ceiling tiles, lay these down on your 2x2 wood sections, then cut trenches/rivers out of these.

Yeah these are some of the Zombicide minis. They're actually really nicely detailed. Cheers, My intention is to have them all to this standard, with the main characters having a bit more effort to make them stand out.
