And he's not above scaring up an 85-year-old Larry Storch to play the love interst of, say, Peggy (after the demise of l'affaire Duck). Or, Weiner can use the voice of Mr. Whoopee from the early-60's cartoon "Tennessee Tuxedo" -- again, the multi-talented Mr. Storch -- to add yet another level of verisimilitude.

Re: Attention Deficit Theatre: "Mad Men," Season Three, Episode 13

midwest ex: I think Betts will have a problem meeting ANYONE with that god-awful flatulence problem of hers. (Oops. I got it mixed up with that stinky January-Jones-as-Grace Kelly sketch on SNL. As Emily Litella would have said, "Never mind.")

Re: Attention Deficit Theatre: "Mad Men," Season Three, Episode 13

Thank you, TJ, for the thorough recap of the season's recaps. (It must be pointed out that "TJ" and "TJHinNYC" are, of course, two completely different people, with needs and dreams not unlike the rest of you. Kinda like Howard Stern vis-a-vis Howard K. Stern.)

Anyway, upon further review...While re-watching "Shut the Door, Have a Seat," I came across an interesting moment not dealt with by the Unbound Edition Players (but, also, perhaps not worth the time). Almost every major character when told of the impending sale of SC utters the same word, "What?!" However, the great actor Jon Hamm added something extra when informed by Conrad Hilton: He looks incredlously at Connie, speaks the magic word "What?", and then...and only then...exhales a huge plume of cigarette smoke he had just inhaled. I haven't tried this trick at home, but I'm betting that it ain't easy to speak the word "What?" and not have one bit of smoke leave your mouth until a dramatic second has passed.

I would like to think it will become a more serious counterpart to a traditional "Danny Thomas Spit-take." I can only dream it will.

Re: Attention Deficit Theatre: "Mad Men," Season Three, Episode 13

McTeague, you crazy bastard, you beat me to it! Yes, the best line this week is, of course: "Yo, Humbert." (Close second: "Hello, boys.")

As for predictions, I think that Weiner can easily incorporate ANY thought-to-be-former character into the future storyline without resorting to gimmicks a la "Dallas" (the show, not the traumatized city of 1963).

And, it would be nice if next season started off in 1964, if only for the chance of seeing Sally, Bobby, Mommy and New Daddy taking in the futuristic sights of the World's Fair.

"Peace Through Understanding," indeed.

And, to dear Kristin, thank you for another peerless season of brilliance. Or something.

Re: Attention Deficit Theatre: "Mad Men," Season Three, Episode 12

Ooh,ooh! I was just crackin' wise. And once again forgot that I need (as always) to bring my "A" game whenever I enter the House of Ament. As for Betty being "that much in denial," just remember "denial" isn't just "the act of asserting that something alleged is not true." No, it's also a river in...Oh, forget it.

Re: Attention Deficit Theatre: "Mad Men," Season Three, Episode 11

Upon further review…During the episode entitled "The Benefactor" (Season 2, Episode 3), where Betty has one of "Don's" watches monogrammed, you can see that it reads "D.W." Not to be outdone, the National Football League, incredulously, did not cancel any of its games just two days after our President's assassination.

It will be very interesting to see how (or if) Weiner handles the Kennedy assassination. The overwhelming aspect of that event (not unlike the Cuban Missile Crisis from the previous year) may present a delicate balancing act in trying to incorporate it effectively into the small saga of the MM characters' lives.

Re: Attention Deficit Theatre: “Mad Men,” Season Three, Episode 10

Kristin,

It can't be said enough: Your brilliant weaving of references to past MM epsiodes and characters, to pop culture of all vintages, and to other tangential matters -- while creating hilarious and...um, believable recaps -- continues to be a thing a beauty. I meant that Episode Three was SO over the top (or as Kristin described it: "...the most surreal hour of television in recent memory") -- especially compared with last week's episode -- that it seemed to be a satire of itself. I fully appreciate the qualities of the program which you accurately describe above. And with Kristin's peerless take on all the proceedings. Thanks.

Re: Attention Deficit Theatre: “Mad Men,” Season Three, Episode Three

Ahem, TJHinNYC.
