Representative Tom Price quoted an article in the New York Post yesterday during a Congressional hearing on the ACA. Republicans believe that Murdoch's publications are credible.

Crist is not popular with this progressive Democrat! He abandoned the governor's seat because of his ambition and now we have Governor Scott. Crist screwed up the Senate race thus giving us Marco Rubio. He left the state with 11% unemployment. He's tied to GOP corruption (his former friend and hand-picked party chair Jim Greer is in prison). There's still a Republican Party credit card scandal, yet to be fully investigated, that he was knee-deep in. He's anti-choice, pro-gun/NRA, pro-privatization of public schools, and despite his recent flip-flop, he campaigned for the anti-gay marriage amendment that's now in our constitution.

Also, the Democratic Party's decision was to limit speakers to three: Nelson, DWS and Mayor Castro. It was not done to keep Senator Rich out. If they were trying to keep anyone out, it's Crist. If he appears on stage, many in the room (like me) would walk out in protest.

Here's another thought: It's not just a matter of better, more experienced teachers, it's a matter of teachers being trained differently. Working with economically-disadvantaged children can require a different skill set. Much of a teacher's time is spent being a social worker as much as a teacher of academics. Special training will lead to less burnout, and more stability.

Howard Dean had the Democratic Party on the right track, but once the Obama team took over, the 50-state-strategy, you-have-the-power thing became "the President's agenda." Framing their work as being "the President's agenda" and not the agenda of the American people was only one of many mistakes. Just yesterday I heard Mitch Stewart sent out an email claiming something like, "I'll work hard if you will." Guess what asshole, we have been working hard. How dare you act like grassroots Democrats dropped the ball.

Either Trig isn't really hers or she took a huge chance with his life by traveling at the end of her high risk pregnancy.

When I had genetic counseling prior to amnio, I asked why it would be important to know about Downs before birth if you didn't want to abort. They said that a high percentage of Downs babies are born with serious heart defects and if possible you would want to give birth near a hospital where the baby could receive appropriate care. Palin didn't do that.

One more thing...Please don't confuse the Democratic Party with Democratic leadership in Congress. Local Democrats are often quite different, sometimes better and sometimes worse. In Florida, we are working hard to build a better party organization. Unfortunately, without Howard Dean as Chair, we may not be able to get there as quickly. It remains to be seen whether OFA will help or hurt us.

Except for Kit's complete dedication to the Obama campaign, her feelings and involvement mirror mine. I never bought into the "Obama hope" thing because it never had any substance behind it. It was never about Democratic values as far as I could tell, it seemed only to be about Obama. The campaign claimed to be bottom-up, but took direction and never deviated from Chicago's orders. Instead of working exclusively for the presidential campaign, I worked for our local Democratic candidates.

If my husband could find work in Europe, we would also consider leaving. Our government just doesn't work anymore, at least not for us.

My friends (semi-retired, former small business owners in their late 50s) cancelled their insurance a couple of years ago. Instead they have a fund of $100K to cover themselves. They plan to go to India or some other "socialist" country if they need non-emergency surgery.

They made the decision to cancel because the insurance policy they had been paying $1200 a month for didn't cover an emergency room visit with an $18,000 charge (bad reaction to blood pressure medication) because the husband was not actually admitted to the hospital.

What a mess we're in.
