It's all the girls who are STILL watching her...the new set of girls. DVDs presents it to a new generation.

I'm glad that you survived Elvis' gyrating hips and all that Rock and Roll music but not everyone did. I'm not going to dismiss so easily the influences of our culture. I see many women's lives that have been influenced by this sort of stuff and made bad bad choices for their lives. Those choices forever impacted them as well as countless others because we're all connected. Everything that we do impacts others in this generation and the generations to follow.
We never followed Hannah Montana because #1) we didn't subscribe to the crummy cable channels out there with the exception of the absolutely cheapest we could get just to get the picture and...#2) we bought dvds of old movies and tv shows that we knew to be safe.

Our three oldest children (20, 18 and 14) are very modest in their attire and don't get into all the sexuality of the culture). We're presently working on raising our two youngest in the same way. So far...so good.

Re: Do We Need Michael Voris?

I'm going to say this: I'm a convert and I've been attending the N. O. mass for over ten years. I've been interested in attending the Latin mass. After reading posts like yours, CRO (and sadly, there are a quite a few hostile people like you out there), I have to keep reminding myself that the Latin Mass is not a mirror of people like you. Otherwise I would develop a strong dislike for it. I'm going to distance myself from this thread because I would still like to attend the Latin Mass and I don't want it ruined. I know a young man who talks like you do and I de-friended him from my fb page because of this kind of talk.

Lest you think that I'm picking on just you....I'm not. This is the second article that I've read where the combox is full....just full...of venomous posters who, in my opinion, are crossing over into idol worship of Mr. Voris.

I've said my piece. I'm going to go pray and consider how much I want to donate to Catholic Answers. It sounds like they could use some financial help.

Re: Do We Need Michael Voris?

Did you not read the article? Is San Diego cheap to live in? Now if they came to live in my neck of the woods, $200,000 would be living pretty well. $100,000, while a good salary, is not outlandish. And I'm sure they've earned it. No...I don't begrudge them the money.

Re: You’ve Depended on Catholic Answers; Now, They’re Depending on You

Well, I can't speak for the forums (is that simply the posters or is it the administrators?) but the I've never heard that on the radio programs.

Re: You’ve Depended on Catholic Answers; Now, They’re Depending on You

Wow. (and it could be taken two different ways). I took it as: posters who are pro-Voris have hate for anyone not in his club. (shrugs). From reading a lot of these posts, that's the way it looks to me. Not meaning you in particular but a lot of these posters are definitely hostile.

btw, I know you posted this 3 days ago but I just got the email alert on it. Unless someone is responding to what I wrote, I'm staying away from this. As of a couple of days ago, it was getting ugly here. (definitely not meaning you, Christine).

Let there be peace.

Re: You’ve Depended on Catholic Answers; Now, They’re Depending on You

Thank you, Deborah. Christine, I do pray a lot and I am doing a great deal of charity...to the point that it sometimes hurts. I am very distressed that people are taking such shots at Catholic Answers. I believe that it is unjustified and mean-spirited (by quite a few posters). I'm not giving a money to Voris because I don't know him and right now I have so much to listen to and study, etc etc etc that I don't want to spend the time checking him out. Maybe some day but not now. I've seen one or two things on Youtube but I haven't seen anything as of yet to warrant this sense of "hero worship" that I'm seeing here.

Re: You’ve Depended on Catholic Answers; Now, They’re Depending on You

My daughter is 20. How is she part of the "dying Vatican II crowd?" I'm a convert. And I'm not part of any dying crowd. If only for the uncharitable, un-Christ-like posts I've seen here, I'm going to make a donation to Catholic Answers. Catholic Answers is doing a lot of good in this world. Thanks for convincing me to donate.

Re: You’ve Depended on Catholic Answers; Now, They’re Depending on You

But that's what it looks like from here.

Re: You’ve Depended on Catholic Answers; Now, They’re Depending on You

You really need to rethink things and study why the Catholic Church says what it says. That's pretty cynical. Read the rest of what I wrote.
"some people yearn for beauty. It brings them closer to God."

I come from a Protestant background. We didn't have all of this beauty. Oh, we had some, yes. The churches are full of Protestants who truly love God but when I crossed over, I was amazed at all the beauty that I saw in the liturgy, the vestments, all of the things that are visual and all the other things that appealed to my senses. I truly feel God there. So for you to say that past Popes were more than a little vain and that's why we have this beauty....I'd like to know where you got that from.

Re: FATHER Z IS WRONG: It’s Christ Cathedral, Not St. Callistus

I attended that church once over 20 years ago (before I was Catholic). I went to a "Women's Conference on Possibility Thinking." Rev. Schuller was wonderful and very gracious. I had a beautiful experience there. What was Benedict's "security blanket?"

It's really no problem taking Communion on the tongue. That's the only way I take it. I came in late to the Church as an adult so ...I've done both but prefer on the tongue.

Peace. I'm not looking for a fight.

Re: Pope Francis’ Preference for Simplicity Leaves Much To Be Spiritually Desired…

Wow. I'm going to forgo most of the above with the exception of Communion on the tongue. I've been in the Church for going on 12 years and that's how I take it. It's not as hard as you might think. It's really easy, in fact. Just my two cents.
