Consider how much grief marijuana laws have created over decades and the cost of incarceration. Benefits of marijuana have been known and studied for a long time. Make it legal for anyone to grow like vegetables, fruit or flowers in a home garden. This would eliminate the need for security and costly facilities with high consumption of power and crimes committed to obtain marijuana. Everyone should have the right to grow whatever they desire on their property. Anyone suffering from an illness cured by marijuana should be able to grow what they need avoiding the costs of obtaining prescriptions. Think of those incarcerated for marijuana use to cure glaucoma. Why should they lose their eyesight and freedom through unjust laws? Americans are not living in the land of the free.

My family has lived on Whidbey Island since 1909. It is a navy base not an airport a huge difference in noise. Base was built in 1942. Navy Growlers emit 110 decibels. The navy forced my grandfather to sell some of his waterfront property he had purchased in 1924 at a significant loss. This property is used for recreation, a golf course and camp ground for navy personnel. The navy has depleted ground water using so much nearby residents are forced to conserve water. All well water surrounding the navy reservation is contaminated with PFAS. The navy doesn't care they tell us if we don't like it we can move. Where? We are a close knit family with many living in the same homes for generations. Whidbey island is NOT suitable for the navy the only access is by ferry or a two lane bridge that was build by the CCC in 1934.

You may want to check out COER, Citizens of Ebeys Reserve and Sound Defense Alliance concerning actions against NAS Whidbey. COER has filed a suit on the EIS. Our Washington State AG Bob Ferguson has also filed a suit on the navy's faulty EIS study. We have been fighting this for years. Original plan for Growlers was to station them at China Lake, CA where there is one million acres reserved for training. The navy is also intruding on the Olympic National Forrest! Environmental issues mean nothing to the military!

Can you tolerate daily flights from the loudest jets ever? I live on Whidbey Island, WA where all navy Growlers are stationed. The noise, 110 decibels and pollution are intolerable. There is NO economic benefit. A study was commissioned that determined it cost Island County $120 million a year.

Attorney General Robert Ferguson is protecting the
State of Washington by filing this lawsuit against
The Department of the Navy that is long overdue.
The public, not just a small group of activists on Whidbey Island
has been actively fighting the presence of the Navy for over 30 years.

The most recent opportunity in 1985 when NAS Whidbey was placed on
the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) list. The public was hopeful.

It is unfortunate this opportunity was curtailed when the Mayor of Oak Harbor
AL Koetje and pro-Navy elected officials on the City Council and Island County Commission used public funds to lobby the DOD to keep NAS Whidbey active.
In spite of the valid concerns of the community NSA Whidbey was taken off the BRAC list.

Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s lawsuit is focused on important issues concerning the ecosystem, health, marine life such as Orcas and Salmon, and most of all the deafening noise of Growlers and toxic jet fuel pollution. There are far more suitable areas for training in remote areas where the public would not be subject to concerns over Growlers.

Whidbey Island will thrive when Growlers are gone. Whidbey, and the entire area is a unique location, a desirable place to live

"Back on January 16, Beyer held an aircraft noise community forum in Fairlington to discuss the issue with a few dozen attendees." Where was this publicized? The military are experts in publicizing notices in obscure places where no one ever looks just to claim they have given notice. This is a constant problem in WA. Demand another forum with adequate well publicized notice.

On Whidby Island, WA citizens have been fighting EA 18-G, Growlers and previous aircraft since 1985. Growlers fly very low just above the trees over our homes. The noise is so loud it shakes the foundation of our homes often breaking windows. Growlers fly in trios at $18,000 per hour each. Why is it necessary to fly multi-million $ Growlers in trios? The original plan was locating Growlers at China Lake in California where there is vast acreage set aside for training. Why was this changed to disrupt our cherished environment? They even fly over the Olympic National Forest disrupting peace and harming wildlife. Citizens of Whidby Island have been drafted with no compensation. Place NAS Whidbey on the BRAC list.

Maryon Attwood respects the Navy and is familiar with the noise of military planes her husband was a Navy pilot. The flights occur late at night at Coupeville and Oak Harbor. The Navy lied about the intensity of the noise and the frequency of flights. The Navy has failed to conduct required environmental studies on the impact to these communities. The noise is so loud you can’t enjoy daily activities; you can’t talk on the phone. Neither party can hear the conversation as the noise
transfers through the phone. It disturbs pets, drinking water left for pets shakes in the bowl from the impact of the noise. Water bowls outside are coated with the pollution from these jets. Many residents have
lived in the area for over 100 years. More recent residents moved to the area when NAS Whidbey was on the BRAC list expecting the base to close with no more noise. Greedy developers with little notice to the public lobbied to keep the base active. There was no opportunity for residents impacted with the noise to voice their concerns. Complaints to officials fall on deaf ears. The lawsuit is the only means to find justice.

How could some one running for County Commissioner fail to know a permit was required. Why not just pay the fine at least they would have been ahead by $13K. Emerson was a TEA Party candidate. How can Emerson be trusted to make prudent decisions for the public? Can a County Commissioner be recalled or impeached?

Springsteen is not the only one that hated Saint Raygunz. Pope John Paul was also instrumental in bringing down the wall. He was not looking for political glory like Raygunz. I am an atheist but do admire Pope John Paul for his service to humanity. Raygunz was the opposite his stance on weapons and alternative energy still harms the earth.

“No other nation on earth can synchronize as many disparate
military activities to achieve such overwhelming effects.”

No other nation on earth squanders vast sums of tax dollars like the US on defense. The overwhelming effects are crumbling infrastructure and declining quality of life. The Penta-gone has created an ever-increasing gap in wealth between the middle class and wealthy rewarding the military industrial complex. In America defense is the highest priority not the health and welfare of citizens.

Rep. Larsen is not serving his constituents with militarization of the unique environment of the Pacific Northwest. Stationing 49 more P-8’s at Whidbey Island, WA and more training of Growler pilots in the middle of Ebey’s Landing National preserve is unconscionable. The disruption of the activities of residents on Whidbey and surrounding communities from the LOUD noise that often occurs late at night must stop. These military activities should be stationed in an area of less population.

NO, the F-35 supports war profiteers. Our nation needs to diversify with jobs in infrastructure and renewable energy before it is too late. Ms. Duckworth represents the will of the voters.

Proceed with BRAC. NAS Whidbey, WA should be placed on the BRAC list again. This base is a menace to the residents of Whidbey Island. Residents are fed up with the noise, pollution and threat to the environment and health it is ridiculous
to consider costly expansion of this base with more aircraft. Space is limited; this aircraft is being dumped on citizens of Whidbey Island and the fragile environment because of complaints in Hawaii where they are now stationed. These planes should be stationed at China Lake, CA where the DOD owns 1.1 million acres in a sparsely populated area. The presence of NAS Whidbey is a disruption of the lives of all citizens in the region. The noise alone is a detriment to daily activities. Threats of economic collapse are a fallacy Whidbey Island would thrive without NAS Whidbey

All of our food is being rendered unfit for consumption with
toxic additives. GMO is not labeled. In a local store I ask an
employee if the corn they had on sale was GMO. He said he did not know what GMO was but was sure the corn did not contain GMO! I ask if he
could find out for sure, he spoke to his manager and came back with ‘all our
food is what the FDA wants us to sell’.
I left with out corn only products labeled CERTIFIED organic.

Years ago when Adelle Davis published her books I read that sugar blocked absorption of calcium. I am horrified that schools now serve chocolate milk and sodas. Indeed sugar or worse high fructose sweetener is in many
foods. Homogenized milk is also suspect; what happens in our bodies to all those fractured fat molecules? Now there are threats to add deadly Aspartame to milk along with antibiotics and growth hormones! What was wrong with just plain milk we could purchase years ago? I remember the days when a
soda was once a week treat these drinks are now a daily threat.

Is this article Five-sided Funny Farm propaganda? They are shaking in their boots they
will lose their unlimited funds. This article that is far to long is full of hero worship and the glory of war the usual script for more funds. Was Been Forgotten allowed to escape in Tora Bora to prolong this war of choice to assure more profit for the war
profiteers? Did the conflict go on so G. W. Bush would not have to deal with high unemployment after squandering the Clinton surplus?

When did military $ervice become a path to wealth? Generals are now compensated at a higher salary than when on active duty. Why does ‘The Shooter’ state the
military screwed him over? He made the choice to leave before he was eligible for generous retirement benefits. There must have been some generous hazardous duty pay and separation pay why was there no financial cushion? Doubt he was forced to
leave. Look at the history of those in the military that have been reprimanded they nearly always wind up keeping their benefits. They may get a reduction in rank but the military seems to be very careful to protect their benefits unlike private industry. One blatant exception of course it the hero Bradley Manning who has been persecuted for
exposing the truth!

Is ‘The Shooter’ merely envious of the profit made by the author of ‘No Easy Day’ or the film ‘Zero Dark 30’?

EXTORTION it is
extortion! I cared for an
elderly relative after a serious accident for six months on an island in
Washington State my residence is in Floriduh. I rely on the Internet and found I could only get the
service needed from Verizon. I had
service in Florida from Bright House I had to drop because Verizon required a
two-year contract. My
monthly Verizon fee was $60 for Internet and phone. I tried to load their wireless disc, it would not load. Called and was informed I needed to
update my computer that cost me $300.
I was told I would not be charged for service until I could log on. I was charged for a full months service
but when I called they gave me a credit of only $30. I used the service for about 4 months when the logic
board went out on my computer requiring service. I still paid for a full months service. I returned to Florida only to find I
needed to replace my computer. I
did not use the Internet for a full month. I was charged $390. 00 for over use! I contacted Verizon and asked for
an account of my Internet uses … NO they could not do that, as it would be a
violation of my privacy! I had
also paid $120 to cover two months service while I was traveling back to
Florida. This payment was never
credited to my account; once again they would not provide me with a full
statement of my account. The
Florida Department of Consumer Affairs intervened on my behalf and Verizon
dropped all charges. That
was not the end after two years I found out Verizon made a report on my credit
rating. I am getting calls and
letters from collection agencies on an account that was settled by the
state. I have complained to
the Federal Trade commission. I am
not paying Verizon one dime I do not owe them anything.
