Streaming and direct downloading is much easier done outside the YouTube platform, but such sites can be dodgy or outright malicious.

Since content discovery can be like walking though a minefield of malware, I am surprised YouTube isn't also shedding a light on this issue.

On another note, I see no reason why YouTube can't run a scan on reported content (for example: kid uploads a Beatles song), when the digital "thumbprint" matches, instead of blocking the content, just monetize it on the backend, and forward the proceeds to the rightful owner. With the proper backend tracking, several uploaded files of the same song can have the views pooled to a lump sum, and the producers of such content would have a difficult time blaming the medium for abuse or malfeasance.

Re: Unauthorized Subtitles For Movies & TV Shows Are Illegal, Court Rules

The sad irony in this situation is that fansubbing is often far superior to the subs provided by the producers of content. The effect of this can only raise the value of the product in question, but the desperate fight to retain a stranglehold on distributive power has blinded them to this fact.

Re: IFPI Sneers at YouTube’s $1 Billion Music Industry Revenue Payout

Claiming that your product is worth something that people are unwilling to pay is laughable. Recessive genes are common, and many times you wind up with an albino version of Boxer that is white. These usually are deaf or blind, have kidney and liver problems, mental retardation, and have an increased risk of developing cancerous tumors (something that "Healthy" Boxers are notorious for developing, half of our pet Boxers have died of cancer)

These white Boxers are typically are "euthanized" due to the plethora of health problems they are destined to have, and the incredibly high cost of veterinary bills. This is considered "humane" I guess, however we never had the balls to do this. Luckily we never had a white Boxer born in all the litters we had. But we heard of the "euthanizing of white Boxers", and were horrified at the idea, and vowed to never do this.

After dealing with several generations of Boxers, all of whom we loved as much as any family member, we learned the hard way that there are valid reasons for euthanizing a puppy, as horrible as it sounds. Finding someone willing to shoulder the burden of a sick and dying puppy is next to impossible, when people won't even rescue the poor dogs that are on death row in the pound, and those have no health issues.

I think this lady is defending her actions based on this rationale.

I am not even sure how I would "put down" a white Boxer if I had to, but drowning in the swimming pool is probably one of the more low class methods I've heard of. Honestly, I probably still couldn't bring myself to do it in any fashion, as they are awfully cute and hard to not fall in love with.

Re: Early Adopters

How will you load any apps if the iPod is off?

Re: Early Adopters

He tells you what the card is in the video.

Re: Early Adopters

EBay is a better website to use for this type of thing.

I am sure that Chronic-Dev doesn't want people to blame this website for getting scammed online.

Re: Dongle Booter

With the overwhelming consumer market for jailbroken devices, it's just a matter of time before a competitor decides to market a similar device, without the restrictions Apple places on it's devices.

The iPod Touch 2G is basically, an old Pentium III PC, that fits in the palm of your hand. When the parts used to construct it get cheap and common (as electronic parts always do over time), these devices will be comming from many sources, and I am willing to bet, that a Windows version (choke), will be among them.

Apple will have to reconsider it's policy of locking down these devices, or lose the market the way they did in the 90's.

Re: Dongle Booter

Using SNES emulator, my iPod battery can go dead in about one and a half hours.

Re: Dongle Booter

Post links to your sources, that verify that information.

Or stop posting made up bullshit, moron.

Re: Dongle Booter

Next lunar eclipse.

Re: Dongle Booter

You probably didn't choose the name "user" for your Windows login account.

Never save shit on your desktop. There is a physical part on the motherboard that is the equivalent of the guts from a digital wristwatch. It keeps the time when the computer is shutdown.

So, on that note, how would you run a background process in the system, if it's not even booted up yet?

Re: Dongle Booter

How would they get that 8 bytes to load into memory and execute?

Re: Dongle Booter

It's just a command line. The additional data must be the "prior setup" that musclenerd was mentioning in his video.

I imagine it would be possible to actually place the device inside your iPod, and connect it internally, if you're the brave sort.

Re: Dongle Booter

Easier to just make one, they won't be marketed for at least a couple months, and by that time, they may be obsolete.

Re: Dongle Booter

That's literally 64 ones and zeros in binary, which is confusing, because I initially thought that the information needed to reboot was going to be the entire 256 bits that is entered by hand during the jailbreak process.

The dongle method requires "a little setup done in advance", which is probably the recording of the 256 bits of binary onto the iPod somewhere, and the dongle is used to feed that 8 bytes of data, to "initiate" the 32 bytes of code to run. This is all speculative, until some solid information becomes available.

Making this dongle is not something I really need, but it sounds fun, so I am going to try it out.

Re: Dongle Booter

I knew my doppleganger would show up here eventually.

Re: Dongle Booter

If there was "news", Chronic would blog it.
