Huh, I'm surprised you're getting such high charges for your current traffic. I was paying about the same on (awful) Dreamhost, but I think I was at about 2-3x traffic of your busiest days. Just for the hell of it you may want to try replacing SuperCache with HyperCache and see if that makes any impact on your server load. When I was on Dreamhost's VPS system SuperCache simply would not work because of how they handled temp files, and Hypercache (while much lesser known) worked great. Could be a similar problem with your server's setup.

Also you could always shop around for a low end VPS... maybe something under $100/mo. You will definitely get enough server power to keep things running smoothly.

And personally if an ad box isn't bringing you any decent money I'd cut it loose. The less crap you have on your site the more the reader will enjoy the experience. Also it's just more code you have to wait to load on each page view.

On an unrelated note, if I was theoretically expanding Halolz into a multi-blog network, would you be interested in doing ALBOTAS there? We might be able to work something out where I handle all the hosting costs and you can keep doing what you're doing!

Still I wonder if you should be asking for donations when the site is ALREADY slathered with ad boxes.

But yeah, Halolz had the same problem before we got our own VPS, so I've been there. First and foremost, have you installed a Wordpress cacheing plugin on the site? (SuperCache or HyperCache) If you haven't you need to do this IMMEDIATELY and it will save you a ton with your host. Wordpress installations kill the RAM and CPU usage on a server compared to standard websites... and the more plugins you have the worse it gets.

Anyway I'll try to check back in here on this thread if I can be more help.
