Unions are sticking YOU up? How are they doing that? By gunpoint, knifepoint, with a big club....Collective bargaining agreements are NEGOTIATED by BOTH sides. The unions don't just "lay down the law" and then leave.

You should be happy there are unions...do you enjoy your 8 hour work day, weekends off, unemployment insurance, workmans compensation if you get hurt, OSHA safety standards, health insurance, retirement accounts...you would have NONE of these if it wasn't for unions.

If you think that the loss of unions is good for the non-unionized work force, think again. Think what the union sector of your employment makes, and compare that to what you make. Do you think you would make near that if the union sector wasn't "setting the bar." The non-union is "comparable" with the union sector in pay and benefits, because if they weren't everybody would run to the unions. Unions raise EVERYBODY'S standard of living.

Yes when they go to China you're damn right I can...I notice those same owners haven't lost their summer homes! I'm damn near six figures too, and I didn't have $80,000 of school loans to pay back.

Of course the unions ran up the wages and the benefits...to the benefit of all....EVERYONES wages and benefits went up, otherwise EVERYONE would have gone to the unions...neat little trick isn't it? ;)

You notice we have MINIMUM wage laws...left up to the corporations, we would all be making $1.50/hr working for the company store. We aren't talking Wal-mart unionizing we are talking skilled trades...those unions are still strong and setting the wage market. Don't believe me look at the state prevailing wage rates. This is one argument on the unions you will lose....you aren't attacking a union that doesn't get anything for their members...trades unions do.

My union garbage allows me to own my house, send my kids to college, and not eat hot dogs and macaroni and cheese for dinner....Not only do I demand that kind of money, I get it. Sounds like someone is jealous of their career choice. Why not come up to my level? Why do I have to come down to yours? You had every opportunity to choose the same career path I did, yet you didn't. Don't blame me because I chose to work where I had pension, health insurance, AND a decent wage....go out and get your own!

No, this story is wrong. There are plenty of "skilled trades" looking for work. They have no problem finding skilled workers....they have problems finding skilled workers willing to work for nothing. Increase your pay base and find out how soon you have an overabundance of "skill" willing to work for you.

I could care less about the Badger football teams...I do care about someone willing to take money for a ticket and then complaining about HOW a person cheers after they pay for that ticket....I have never seen a disclaimer on any ticket I have ever purchased telling me what I can or cannot say....

You are absolutely right. Let them take their guns to the schools and playgrounds. How about sporting events. I want to see the first parent lose it when "little Johnny" doesn't get his "fair playing time." Those parents are bad enough unarmed. Can you imagine that confrontation with a little "steel courage" in s shoulder holster. The fact that the laws outlawing CC in the first place goes to show how little judgement some people can use in certain situations. Laws are made for a reason...usually not for the masses (who generally show good common sense) but for the rare nut jobs who screw it up for everyone.

Except this is NOT a workplace, and they paid for their seat...and the right to yell and cheer however they see fit. Fan - short for fanatic. There is no logic when talking to sports fans at a sporting event. Do you remember being 18-22? Sure they have a lot of growing up to do, that is why they are in college. Don't like the chant or the language STAY HOME AND WATCH IT ON TV! Last I checked the football team is the "student's team." They actually ATTEND the school the team represents. There shouldn't be a ticket sold to the general public until every student who want a ticket gets one, then alumni, then the rest of the sniveling jock sniffers who weren't either good enough to play or smart enough to attend the UW!

Keep the chant if nothing more than it ticks off the Christian Right who insist on pressing their dogmatic prudish values onto society.

This is a moot point....there is no law OBLIGATING the electoral college voters to vote ANY WAY. THEY CAN VOTE FOR WHOMEVER THEY CHOOSE. That is the joke of it. The voters vote the way the state intends for them to, however they DO NOT HAVE TO...what's wrong with the popular vote? Majority wins, simple and democratic.

Then none of the non-represented employees should get any of the benefits negotiated for the benefits of the union. They should have to go and beg for their individual raises, and benefits. Not be given the same increases the represented members get....yeah, that would be effective...especially at the state level. Negotiate with individuals instead of groups.

JimS...regardless of what you think teachers pay taxes too...the last teacher strike was when...oh yeah 1978! Tenure...not a bad thing if one person has an issue with you and wants you gone. Say for example a Superintedent who was their chlid in the gifted and talented program (when the child isn't gifted OR talented) and a teacher refuses. Union protections can be a good thing too.

Just because you went to school doesn't qualify you to fix the schools.

I don't have a college degree but I have served a five year apprenticeship, as have many public sector workers and those aren't considered college degrees, but that doesn't mean we are uneducated. I have probably had more schooling than many college graduates, when you factor in all the continuing education and classes I take on my own.
