UI! Looks like you are up to your old tricks. The MMs are keeping things very interesting.

Sorry for the long hiatus, but I began a new job in March. Not only am I working a ton of hours I thought it would be unwise to spend any time monitoring the markets while in my first few weeks on the new job. Well I am now a few months in and ready to get back into trading, although due to my job I will have to be limited to IT and LT trading only.

I look forward to seeing you and the gang in the chatroom.

Pata can you please add me to any approved lists? I am not able to chat in the chatroom or see any archives. Thanks.

UI, one of your most admirable qualities is your honesty. You lay out your opinions and what you expect, but ALSO what would make you wrong. It really helps lesser experienced traders realize that being wrong is part of the game. Recognizing what invalidates our opinions helps to limit losses.

BTW your pics are quite handsome, for a guy, lol. Any reason they are all black and white? You are not THAT old are you? LOL.

UI I sincerely want to thank you for all that you do here. It is simply amazing to find someone with your skills who does not seek fame or wealth beyond trading profits. You do not have to prove anything to any of us regulars. We have witnessed your trading skills and the power of the system that your father created.

You owe no one here anything. You can quit any time you wish. We are all thankful for what we have learned so far. We all see the market differently. For this we have paid you nothing. We are all grateful for the time we have spent together.

If you decide to continue this group in a different format or the same, we will all be ready to participate. With your leadership we have created a close group of traders, almost like a family. It is amazing that we all feel so close, yet we have neither seen any other members nor do we know many of their names!

Anyway I wish you all the best. I do believe that if you decide to continue the group we can meet your long term goals and change the lives of many beyond this small knit trading group.

This is like going back to the stone ages, lol. Anyway seems to be trouble getting over this key level (1090). Both Sol and UI thought we may gap over this key level. So it will be interesting to see if this market can get over that level.

UI thanks so much for the recap. I was away from the computer on Friday afternoon so I missed the excitement. I too went long near the morning lows on Friday, however I was prepared for the "what if" scenario. I had a stop set and had no plans to remove the stop. I knew if the stop got hit, long was the wrong direction. The J-So of most of 2009 would not have traded that way.

Nam and I actually discussed what may happen if we had a 3o minute close under 1104 and we were right. I am not sure if Nam went short Friday afternoon cuz I was gone, but I know that both of us have a much better understanding of how to trade the IPs now even if we don't know how to find them. :-)

Pata - I did not think you were in the wrong. Anyone who spends a fair amount of time in the chat room will understand the diverse views that are seen daily. We may have a few perma-somethings in the group, but not many. Most have learned from bad past (xTrends) experiences to NOT blindly follow anyone. The only thing anyone really follows blindly is the SD signals. Pretty hard not to follow those.

OJ - I think I understand your comments yesterday were not meant to be offensive and I do understand your warnings. I appreciate your concerns. Please be aware that many of us here have learned bitter lessons from blindly following xTrends. We are trying very hard to improve as traders and be independent thinkers. If you visit a little more frequently I am sure you will be impressed by some of the folks around here. I do not want to be involved in this thing and hope you two move on, but I wanted to voice my support to Pata. My intention was not to pile on you. :-)

Chatroll has always has problems. I would be fine changing to a similar product. The new product MUST have archives. The new product should also be friendly to those that use the chat room while working. :-)

I have no idea on other products.

Nam that was awesome. Very well said. Great analysis. Keep things in perspective. The guys pulling the strings behind the curtains are the Alex Rodriguez of stock trading. They are the pros. We are the rookies. We make some good plays, but we have lots to learn. The main thing is to keep the experiences in our brains and record the outcomes. One day we will be much more experienced and better traders than today.

UI it is beginning to sink in. The fact that you repeatedly say that a good trader is better than a good analyzer is beginning to make sense. I appreciate your patience and honesty. The importance of humbleness is also something that does not make sense at first. But after reflection I realized that ONLY through humbleness can one resist the urge to try to make every call and prediction.

In baseball there is the saying that "Chicks dig the long ball." The meaning is that the flashy plays are what gets attention. Yet every ball player knows that it is hard work and the little things that actually win games. It is the same with trading. Some in the blogosphere want to hit home run predictions, yet unless they know how to trade they will not be profitable.

My take UI is that the MMs have gone up from 1030 with no institutional participation. I doubt they will go further. so either the institutions hop in and take this to the moon, or the MMs will take this down and let the elephants have their way. Big price to pay in this scenario.

I am 75% short from 1108.5. My stops are set at break even. If I get stopped out I will wait for a confirmation to initiate another position. If I don't get stopped out then I guess we'll know what path Ms. Market will take.

Thanks for the explanation UI. The clearest post yet. It actually clears up some of the previous confusion of some posts from this past summer. I really was hoping for a clear SD sell so I could kinda sit back for a little bit, but I guess we'll have to work harder to stay in tune with this market.

Great summary Nam and Elyse. A few other notes I would like to add. Perhaps the % change in volume has something to do with a projection. In the July episode volume increased 19% from the MM initiation to the elephant follow through. In August the volume increased 17%. Early Sept vol increased 14% and in late Sept vol increased 37%.

I also noticed that there was no discernible pattern in the period from March to July low. So perhaps this pattern reveals the character of the market. Like maybe this pattern repeated in 2006 or something.

Another area to study are the tops following the elephant follow through. Maybe the volume levels, or time to follow through can give us clues on what type of tops to expect.

You two put out a great summary here. We may be on to something, maybe not. Further study into the period before 2009 is necessary to draw greater conclusions. Thanks again.
