I understand that the comments of the author are just that, but when you are pulling a news story with a HUGE feminist issue in it and you do your best to avoid even mentioning it on a feminist blog (on which you are paid to write feminist news) it's a bit flabbergasting.
Yes, part of being a feminist is having your guard up quite a bit (and perhaps I am guilty of it here) but to me, talking about slut-shaming is a lot more relevant to the readers than a random comment abut Beyonce, even from Stevie Nicks. We have a purpose here, and my opinion of that purpose is to expand our understanding and activism in cultural issues pertaining to women- the good and bad. And to me, Stevie Nick's comment was nothing to celebrate. Enough people like Beyonce. Not enough people realize the implications of slut-shaming.
But for you tell me NOT to blame them for something THEY posted... is this suddenly a world where I'm not allowed to express respectful displeasure? I posted my comment as a reader with a response to what was, quite frankly, a fluff piece with a offhanded and poignant sexist remark tucked within it. Yes, Stevie Nicks made the comment. But I think a situation where we let that shit slide is an opportunity missed.

Stevie Nicks might be a legend, but a compliment to a woman that includes a backhanded slap to ALL women is not super complimentary. Thank God Bey is here to provide a good rolemodel for all the non-skanks out there. I'm also curious about what makes Beyonce better than Madonna or Britney- surely they have all done more or less the same pop star shit at different points in their careers. Maybe Ms. Nicks is comforted by the fact that although Sasha Fierce might be pushing the skanky boundaries, Dear Mrs. Carter is a loving wife and mother, something we should all aspire to be.

Inconsistent feminism. Bust is better than this. The fact that this delightful little nugget of slut shaming didn't even get a proper mention is discouraging.

I like that they justified this glorified mob rally with images of the founding fathers. They realize that taxation WITHOUT representation is a horse of a different color, right?
