And it is agreed we all have a duty to protect the environment - of course, stopping the logging is part of this process, stopping employment for others to become homeless or dependent on others for assistance to live.

We have seen how some homeless treat the environment and surrounding property.

Then the protesters alone, how did they get there? Environment polluting vehicles?

Identify what the Logging plan missed in regards to the protecting the environment and be sure those are addressed. Otherwise you create less support locally for yourcause!

Many of the ADA guidelines are out of date and with updated published guidelines removing them is the right thing to do (guidelines should be removed as they are updated).
I agree the Obama era guidance per hiring of disabled should remain. It should also be stronger.

Think about it, we constantly hear of laws encouraging city, County, State, and Federal agencies to hired disabled, yet have they really looked at the opportunities to employing individuals with disabilities in other settings besides full-time in the office?
With technology today, there should not be a reason for most jobs to be done at sites other than in an office; possibly the home, part-time share positions, etc.

Hmm, great article referencing the business opportunity, but it does not look at the problems it may cause for the recipients and care providers.

Paid minimum wage, basically no benefits and no paid holidays, and in California allowed up to three-days sick leave after three years of employment, but allowed to only use 2 hours at a time. The use of the sick leave can only in intervals of 1 hour and then half-hours intervals up to 2 hours (even if you have 8 hours coming, you can only use 2).

Then, it is claimed this will stop fraud - right, in California the fraud rate is under 2%. How will a electronic gadget stop fraud? One can check in and out as they please.

I would be curious on the estate sales and if they were sold at value or what? Then, maybe I missed it, but where are the balances for the sale of the property gone, to the State as it is suppose to?

Cornyn is only doing what Dems did the Republicans. Only difference, Republicans did what they waited for, reduce wealthiest taxes, made it more costly for 60 years and above, and cost those dropping insurance to pay a fine of $3000 to the insurance company.

Don't forget the money taken from the Medicare account, kind of like the money taken from your Social Security account and not paid back

Agree with Hank's thoughts regarding the low vaccination rate!

It is not the availability of transportation, the Health Department is willing to come to you for your vaccines. It is mostly due to different parents feelings and education against the vaccines, not proving the vaccine is the only answer.

Reduce future costs in the future? Is the county going to a new retirement program, like Social Security? All I have seen is the yearly cost has gone up, and this balance of unpaid retirement seems to be held over the public's head every time it looks like there is a chance to move forward with something else.

Maybe I do not understand how funding for a position works, but is it not true that when you hire some one and you offer a pension and other benefits it is paid at the time is accrued? Thus, quarterly payments would be made to this fund to cover what the employee earned, yes?

Are they saying the money has been withheld and they are not putting up the agreed upon match?

It is my understanding the zoning in the area was put into place long before there was any thought of the timber industry not being in place. It is also understood, the County and City are presently working on this with the Local Coastal Land Use Plan. I believe there was going to be public comment planned in April.

The HBHWG just had a luncheon where information was shared about the local coastal plan, a grief conversation. If Lost coast wishes to post the video, they can email me.

What I hear is its cheaper to pay the yearly fine. If hospitalized, they are going treat you and if you are poor already, they will sign you up for Medi-Cal.

Tribal members care, but hard to say something if you fear retribution from others in the area, yes? The Council and local leaders need to step up, yes?

Yet, for local leaders and Council to step up you still have the faction who seem to stop positive efforts and start over each time council changes; which is no different elsewhere, only noticed more in a smaller community.

There isn't a "day" facility; part of the problem.
A facility is needed that offers more than a meal and a place to sleep and shower. A facility is needed that assists in living skills and provides access to needed services - think about it for a moment: "If you need something from Social Services you spend most of your time traveling from one part of town to the other." Carry all you own and so forth this is not an easy task.

I referred to a facility I saw in Sacramento that provides what I just noted.

Population and lack of facilities - larger cities I have been in front of homeless shelters and did not know it was one.
Lack of day use facilities is part of the problem.

Still, you need housing stock and a way to pay rent for the housing provided. Let's really look at the homeless and sources of income. Did all of a sudden HUD or DHHS decide they will pay rent for life for some of those who are homeless to make up the difference usually charged as monthly rent?
