Legally, wouldn't Andrews and her lawyers have a case against anyone who ran pics from the video as well? That's what makes this seem doubly stupid to me.

You're pretty much right. Another part of it is the expectation that sideline reporting is a joke -- thus, mostly a female-identified job, even though you've got dudes like Craig Sager involved in it and Lesley Visser reached incredible heights because of it. (And I write it knowing I'm guilty of said behavior as a writer in the past.)

@prommy -- dead on. every story my little local news org has done on it has MOS (man on street) interviews with people LOATHING the concept of handing over $700 billion to a trillion to an industry that screwed them over and got greedy -- never mind handing over tons of power to King Henry.

Johnny Mac won't vote against it now; Caribou Barbie trapped his ass by linking this with another Great Depression. He's suspending his campaign to try and get a poison pill the people will now swallow.

@chicagobureau -- it is the stupidest thing you've ever heard, but no one went broke underestimating the stupidity of the American public. Thus, expect to see this coming down the pike as soon as the bill is passed. Schmidt and Davis are enough of the scorched-earth campaigner type to do it.

Someone posted the latest Matt Taibbi piece on Sarah Palin that's in the current issue of Rolling Stone.

It's a beautiful screed, even if Taibbi's been a bit full of himself.

If this bailout gets through without any meaningful oversight (which it will), I'm gonna head down to my bank and tell them that I need a personal bailout. Something along the lines of, say, $50K for starters.
