I walk past the homeless encampment at 26th and South Van Ness every day. What do I see? Lots and lots of glass from freshly broken into vehicles. And at least a dozen stolen bikes (several with bikeshare logos, those green bikes you can rent from Market St). This isn't just about snooty landowners. It's about safety. SF crime laws are too weak to deal with this.

Never put anything down on a lease if you can help it. If the car gets into an accident and is totalled at any point during the lease period, GM takes the car back and you get no compensation for the remaining portion of the lease..

As an UBER driver, I say competition is good. However, I am disturbed by UBER's efforts to maximize their profits at the expense of their drivers and customers with unnecessary surge pricing (designed in my experience to milk the customer, not to incentivize drivers as is often claimed), repeated employee-type dictates to drivers (even though UBER pretends that drivers are independent contractors to get around US labor laws) and generally mediocre customer service. I think ridesharing services do need to be regulated and protections given to both drivers and riders.

The only reason for Iran to pursue a weapon is that Israel has several hundred nuclear warheads and has not signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. So long as Israel has weapons, other Middle East countries will continue to seek the same.

It doesn't take a genius lawyer to realize that theft is wrong. This is what Israel has done on a mass scale: seized the properties of hundreds of thousands and given it at heavily subsidized rates to Jewish immigrants. The injustice is to such an extent that most of the land stolen is considered "Israel proper" which the Israelis will not compensate nor will they give the lands back to their rightful owners. Until Israel comes to grips with what it has done, and realizes that continuing illegal land seizures via settlements and outposts is wrong, they will continue to suffer tensions and insecurity. For how can a criminal be at ease when he knows that he must make amends for his crime, even though he may get away with it for a time?

That's a good point. Attacking the innocent is disgusting and repulsive. The Palestinians have won themselves no favors by resorting to terrorist acts. But anyone who thinks that Israel has done no wrong is mistaken. Israel illegally seized the lands of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians turning them into stateless refugees. Israel, via settlements and outposts, continues to illegally seize land from Palestinians. Meanwhile many millions of Palestinians live in refugee camps. How can there be peace in such unjust circumstances?

Actually, apartheid is a good description of Israeli policies towards its non-Jewish citizens. Israeli laws and policies discriminate heavily against non-Jews within Israel and the occupied territories. There are different legal rights for Jews and non-Jews. Non-Jews can be held without charge. Their land can be seized and used to build illegal settlements and outposts. They are prevented from using "Jewish only" roads. All of these unbelievable from a state that calls itself a democracy.

These attempts to ban Muslims from presenting their beliefs are motivated by xenophobic hatred, pure and simple. Kudos to CAIR and other organizations that fight hate and educate.

Good article that captures the efforts to end extremism amongst Muslims. I am still concerned however that the terminology used by the Western media to describe anti-extremism efforts are ambiguous and easily misunderstood by their audiences. For example, what is the difference between "jihad" and "jihadism"? Both are non-English terms whose meanings are not clearly defined for the average reader.

Ah, you've clearly never read the Bible. There are dozens of verses about killing. However, like the Quran, these are prescribed punishments for specific crimes.

And there's no verse in the Quran about x number of virgins either.

The NY Times piece is from the "Opinion" section. It is from America's founding ideals to allow all manner of opinions to be expressed.

Besides, this article is a scare-tactic. There isn't anything in the Shariah that isn't already found in the Bible. Are we scared that Muslims believe in Biblical teachings? After all, Muslims believe in Jesus, Abraham and all of the Biblical prophets.

God does not sanction injustice. Hence, there is no way that seizing the lands of 700,000+ people and forcing them to live in refugee camps is in any way condoned by God.

Secondly, your quotation of scripture is correct. However, I must point out that the Arabs too are from the progeny of Abraham. It never ceases to amaze me that an illiterate descendant of Ishmael from the backwaters of Arabia 1,400+ years later has nearly 2 billion followers from every nation and ethnicity on earth. Which to me is perhaps an indication that God has favored them.

No one is denying that the Jewish people have a right to self-determination. But that self-determination does not justify seizing the lands of others. Taking what does not belong to you without permission is theft, regardless of the motive.

You are correct that many Jews were expelled from Arab countries. This is because many of them assisted an enemy state during a time of war. As the Egyptian prosecutor put it at the conclusion of the Lavon affair (in which Egyptian Jews were caught attempting to perpetrate terrorist bombings):

'The Jews of Egypt are living among us and are sons of Egypt. Egypt makes no difference between its sons whether Moslems, Christians, or Jews. These defendants happen to be Jews who reside in Egypt, but we are trying them because they committed crimes against Egypt, although they are Egypt's sons.'

Still, it is probable that innocent Jews with no desire to betray their country were caught up in this whole situation, and they should no doubt be compensated. If so, this is a separate case from the 700,000+ Palestinians who were unjustifiably forced from their homes by European illegal immigrants (again, see Aliyah Bet)

The facts don't show that Muslim countries are plotting to destroy Israel. Rather many Muslim countries (at least 11) including Egypt, Jordan and Qatar have diplomatic relations with Israel.

The concerns with Israel are that:

1) A majority of Israel's populations consists of illegal immigrants from Europe and their numerous children. See the Aliyah Bet (illegal immigration) campaigns.

2) These illegal immigrants ultimately forced 700,000+ Palestinians off their land. These Palestinians now live as refugees throughout the region including most of the neighboring countries. It is no wonder that Israel is disliked by most countries in the region. Not because of some strange religious motive but rather because Israel's creation at the hands of illegal immigrants brought war, and the resulting refugees harmed the economies of many countries who were forced to take them in.

The US is actually responsible for most civilian casualties in Afghanistan. We note that US forces have removed most of their remote standalone bases and moved them into civilian areas. The question thus arises: why are US forces using civilians for cover?

Interesting. The pro-Israel lobby is funding US political figures to undergo propaganda tours. I wonder if Mayor Doherty was informed that much of modern day Israel is the illegally seized property of seven hundred thousand-plus Palestinians who now live in refugee camps. Or that significant percentages of Israeli citizens are illegal immigrants who flooded into the Holy Land and started warring with the citizenry. (see "Aliyah Bet").

The problem I have with this segment is that Beck has omitted facts so crucial that no one who has researched this topic could have possibly missed them. The first is that the "Mahdi" in the Islamic texts of hadith is the ally and supporter of Jesus Christ after his return. The second is that the Antichrist is named in Islamic texts and is a completely different person: "Dajjal".

I would contend that Beck and his guests are fully aware of this information and are deliberately misleading their audience.

The fact that you are ok with killing Afghans is precisely why we are losing in afghanistan. This is an unwinnable war as defined by the USG and we should withdraw and spend the hundreds of billions on job creation instead.
