In fact, it might turn out better that way. You would still need to cook the chicken beforehand so it may turn into a 2-day project. Poach the chicken the night before, add all of the ingredients to the crock pot the next day. The bonus of poaching the chicken is you end up with tons of amazing chicken stock that you can freeze and use for future meals. Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Re: Cleanse: Day 2

Yes! It's $25/week (I think) and you actually get to pick what you want. So if turnips are available that week and you're not much of a turnip gal, you can swap them out for extra basil. Also: locally made cheese is included. Just saying.

Re: Things discussed with work friends:

I forgot we called the time lady POPCORN!!! The SMDB world gushes over every new social tool whether it's good or bad (and retweeting every Mashable tweet). It's the whole shiny objects thing. And I love that you bring up people and connecting people - because that's really the awesome part.

(And thank you!)

Re: A rant.

Shane - I couldn't have said it better myself (and don't mind you speaking on my behalf because you totally know where I'm coming from as we have expressed frustration over this too many times to count).

What I really don't understand is why so many people in the industry feel the burning need to teach everyone and their grandparents how to, say, use Twitter. If someone is struggling to use the internet in general (doesn't have a blog, calls twitter "tweeter", struggles with googling basic information), they aren't going to be very successful with social media. Unfortunately so many SMDBs (and I will continue to call them that because it is accurate) feel like it's their responsibility to get everyone signed up for [fill in social network here], even if they don't really have the ability to do anything with it. You can show someone how to complete a tweet, but if they don't inherently get what they are doing or why, how is that effective? Or does it not matter because the instructor is just trying to cash in? It just feels so phony and it's nauseating.

Within my organization, I've hosted lunch and learns and crafted educational blog posts, so I don't disagree that education can be a good thing. But it's about the context and the environment. I was hired to work with many different individuals in many different areas of the company who all have different levels of knowledge about the web. It's helpful to try to get everyone on the same playing field for the sake of productivity and so we can put together the best marketing campaigns possible. And because they're an intelligent group of professionals who want to learn more about social media because it's a pretty hot topic. Not because I feel like I need to ensure they know what a hashtag is for the sake of all mankind.

Re: http://jillyc.tumblr.com/post/1092788952

Tearing up at my desk. :) So beautiful, BFF Jill.

Happy anniversary to you both!

Re: Is this the first confirmed case of Foursquare stalking?

Hi there fellow commenters. I'm actually the girl from the blog post. Yay. Lucky me.

A few things to add:

I rarely posted my location to Twitter. If I did, it's when I was with a group in a public place. I never checked in at home. I never checked in at work. I was selective with who I let follow me on Foursquare.

After what happened Tuesday night, I changed my Foursquare privacy settings and decided I would only check in as "off the grid."

But last night I went to dinner with a friend and instead of checking in like I usually would, I felt nauseous. Like it just wasn't worth it. So I'm currently evaluating my relationship with Foursquare. As my fiance said, "It's fun, but is it worth risking your safety?" Answer: no.

The overall point that I'd like to make is that I was a generally careful Foursquare user and this happened to me. Yes, my Twitter account is public and I blog under my real name (that jig was up a long time ago), but I thought I was being safe. Turns out I wasn't.

The good news? I received tons of messages yesterday thanking me for blogging about my experience because it made others decide to change their Foursquare habits and make safety a priority. One woman said she had been checking in from her house and is stopping that immediately (and deleting those check-ins and the location).

So while I've heard plenty of criticism for my actions (perhaps valid, also sometimes a little cruel), good has come out of it too. And that's the best thing I could have asked for.

Re: http://blog.sheasylvia.com/post/806991261

This is why I love you, Parallel Pants.

Re: http://blog.sheasylvia.com/post/726952456

Thank you, Dan. :)

I called them tonight and explained why my experience was so rotten. I can't even tell you how many times I've answered a chat and received the same series of "tests" to prove I'm really a human. The point is that live chat should be like having a phone call. Only you're typing. And no one wants to go through an automated phone call, so why would they like an automated chat? Is that good customer service? Will you actually LEARN anything about your products, business, website, etc. by automating chat? Nope.

(Disclaimer: I work for Bold Software and that's how I met Casey, but I also consider him a friend thanks to social media.)
