Option Expiration Week has an up tendency...the Max Pain point for SPY = 137, DIA = 123, IWM = 720, QQQ = 45

Very feasible to make those by the end of the week. Perhaps that's why the downside has stalled for a bit.

Agreed...how come it wasn't called a housing crisis as affordability kited away from our young people trying to start their lives. So we'll choose to bail out the speculators to artificially hold the prices up AND "Screw the kids" AGAIN. What a farce. Nixon administration showed us that price freezes don't work and just goes bigger problems down the road

Bankers Plead for Bailout

From the WSJ: Worried Bankers Seek to Shift Risk to Uncle Sam

The banking industry ... is urgently shopping proposals to Congress and the Bush administration that could shift some of the risk for troubled loans to the federal government.

One proposal, advanced by officials at Credit Suisse Group, would expand the scope of loans guaranteed by the Federal Housing Administration. The proposal would let the FHA guarantee mortgage refinancings by some delinquent borrowers.

The risk: If delinquent borrowers default on their refinanced loans, the federal government would have to absorb the loss.
This plan makes no sense. Why should the taxpayers bailout the lenders and investors? Oh, that's right...privatize the profits and socialize the losses. Nice Wall St...real nice.

Ya know...was jsut thinking something real similar this morning. Something / company has to blow up for this to be over like Penn Central, Chrysler, LTCM, .Com's, etc. What will it be begs the question? Will it be real estate and Freddie / Fannie???
