Nice article! Great to see some more advanced functionality coming to regular css. I'll be interested to see how people push these new selectors using preprocessors like Sass and Less. :)

Are you responsively switching the images in/out based on resolution and pixel density? You could reduce the initial page load by lazy-loading specified image sizes at different media breakpoints, using jQuery or some fancy js.

You need to use all of the font types that Font Squirrel provides you with, not just one of them. Then you have to make sure you have the correct css for each of those font types, as provided by font squirrel.
Firefox doesn't use SVG for the font-face attribute, so that won't work, it'll try and pull the .ttf or .otf so make sure those are there too and it's all setup correctly in the css file.

Don't worry about it, i went through a lot of trial and error myself to get this working. if it helps at least one other person than it was worthwhile. ;)

Create a new .htaccess file with the code I quoted in my post to allow it to work. let me know if you have any problems. ;)

Sweet dude. Thanks for the advice.
I'm a big fan of Lightroom myself too, the ease of use is heaps and bounds above that of Photoshop itself.
I'll give this a go on Saturday while I'm out training and see what sort of results I get. The focus on yours is what draws me in, it's absolutely fantastic.

Do you per-chance have a flickr account I could take a peak at?
