Everything in the game states he causes nosebleeds. There's also one in Hungry Pass (a part of yokai world made entirely out of cake) with some amusingly gross NPC dialogue about the residents mistaking the blood from his nosebleeds for strawberry jelly.

Re: BOO-GLEECH

It's pretty difficult to do, but it can actually happen. It might help I that I had shady unity (which apparently boosts negative inspirits somehow), but I've also seen it happen without it. I think some bosses are flat-out immune to it though.

Re: BOO-GLEECH

Oburger could maybe still work as is, since it sorta still sounds like "Oh bah god!" This manifests in his fight as calling up thought bubbles containing images of things like dragons and bullet trains and then pulling them out as attacks! He also has a rad soultimate where he conjures up an image of a beautiful flower field....only for his fangs to slowly creep into view before he chows down on your team. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: BOO-GLEECH

I spent some time to track down and use Scritchy a while back on my main file of the first game and if you use her with two other Shady yokai her inspirit effect (itchiness, naturally) does hilariously exorbitant amounts of damage if it succeeds on a boss. Seeing Massiface's postgame palette swap shout "I itch!" before hemmorraging nearly 600 hp is always amazing.

Re: Gotta Critique 'Em All

I love how when you meet this gen's bug gym leader in BW2 for your gym battle he proceeds to gush about how cute his Dwebble's eyes are and how sweet his Leavanny is. It's also a bit unusual as far as grass types go too, since its dry skin ability essentially makes it one of the only grass type pokemon that can't stand strong sunlight. Not super strong, no, but still has a couple interesting strategic niches.

Re: Gotta Critique 'Em All

damn, you're positively ripping through these...and we're nearing the section of the pokedex where all the weirdest shit in gen 1 hangs out! exciting times!

Re: BOO-GLEECH

So....may not be the best place to bring this up, but have you heard about the Silent Hill pachinko/slot machine, which is the first we've heard of the franchise after the cancellation?

Re: DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS

It seems to be fairly mixed on which marsupial Skullroo is, since later-translated games go for aardvark-based puns for it and its palette swaps, such as HAARDVARK or GUAARDVARK.

That's honestly another awful thing about the remake not getting released over here; we're missing out on pun names that put even Pokemon to shame with their sheer corniness. The wordplay and punniness of the scripts produced by the guys who translated everything from Dragon Quest 8 onwards is absolutely incredible. Even seemingly bland monsters in the old version like the gargoyle-ish EvilBeast or the self-explanatory EvilArmor would be made amazing with hilariously groan-worthy names like GRRRGOYLE or BAD KARMOUR.

Re: Awful Hospital: Seriously the Worst Ever

Oh snap, Harmburger's going back to being extra moldering and gross again in the last panel
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? The monster design on its own wouldn't be especially weird, but the completely inexplicable names they gave it push it into baffling territory.

Re: BOGLEECH

I just remembered one little detail about Slowbro in the Stadium games that I thought might delight you: Slowbro doesn't even realize when he's been KO'd or react to it in any way until Shellder alerts him to it. When his HP hits zero, he just slowly turns to look at his Shellder as if to ask "Hey, were we just defeated?", the Shellder makes a nodding motion, and only THEN does he collapse.

Re: Bogleech Blog, cockwork-orange: guess what you fucking tools ...

Hate to break it to ya bro, but there are a fair share of awful vegans on this site who frequently deliver ultimatums such as "If you claim to love animals but also eat meat, you're either a psychopath or a hypocrite". Just check out Vegasmo for a shining example. I'm not saying all vegans are awful, but the ones I've seen on this site are far from innocent and definitely give the cause a bad name.

Re: BOO-GLEECH

I hardly ever read these books as a kid because I was always too frightened by whatever horrifying illustration the cover had to plumb their hellish depths, but the cover art was always enchantingly scary.
