It's about time somebody innovated here. As someone who has had to go through those long product procurement and deployment cycles myself, it'd be such a relief to see this done through a cloud implementation. That App store idea sounds awesome too. It could be really, really, really helpful.

I've been told that making layoffs is one of the most difficult things an executive can do in his or her career. Is it possible that these compensation packages are rewards for doing something that may be extremely difficult?

I've thought a lot about this problem. Fundamentally, AT&T believes it is big enough to push around customers. This is a classic case of monopolistic behavior. Here's the rub, you could only justify it as a class action case if you could clearly define the iPhone as non-competitive to other smart phones. If it could be ruled a unique product, then AT&T might be engaging in anti-competitive practices. Maybe the FTC could get around to busting them for it right after it is done with Intel (like 10 years late).

Maybe we need a performance monitoring and reporting application that could be used as the basis of massive fill-in-the-blank style small claims litigation or perhaps might define a class if AT&T could be proven to violate its own terms of service.

I imagine you'd be protected under free speech here. You're not ACTUALLY organizing operation chokehold. You're not libeling AT&T (satire shield).

Imagine calling on AT&T shareholders to sell their shares. The stock price drops and someone sues. But for what? You haven't written untruths, you didn't force anybody to sell their shares.

I don't know. Iz not can be haz law degrees.

Another form of peaceful protest is the lawsuit. That's one that AT&T has to listen to. The best way to see an AT&T rep in person is to sue the company. I did it and won after the company jerked me around on broadband access.

So here's the deal. Someone needs to make an iPhone app that will record network outages and dropped calls and take the user's data down to participate in a class action lawsuit.

The dropped call data, when aggregated, might demonstrate that AT&T is not meeting its Terms of Service contract--namely it doesn't provide communications. It would be a case of epic magnitude.

Please, FSJ, can you suggest it?
