I haven't posted for awhile because sentiment was stuck in neutral forever. But that's changed. There are widespread signs of bullish sentiment extreme enough to be contrarian bearish. This is true not only for what people say (e.g., the sentiment polls) for also for what they do (e.g., option ratios, mutual fund flows, insider selling). I'm responding to these signals in two ways. One is to trim back my holdings a bit. The other is just to be prepared to sell should prices start to break down.

Decent sentiment doesn't mean the market isn't overbought. I'm not good at picking OB and OS points, but the S&P 500 is now about 5% above the 50dma, which is one of my indicators of when the rubber band is getting stretched.

There seems to be a consensus that the whole world has turned bullish, but, for the life of me, I don't see it in the numbers. Here and there things get frothy, but quickly pull back into neutral. The wall of worry lives on.

Looking at charts over the weekend I noted the relative weakness of most emerging markets and Japan. The recent strength has been concentrated in North America, Europe, and India.

Looks like I chose the wrong stock to hold into earnings. My FFIV is up a respectable 4%. But NFLX!!! +25% at the moment!

Hey moo, since trying to trade less I've had less to contribute, but still follow everyone here and am still monitoring IT sentiment indicators, which have been stuck in neutral for a loooooong time. Thanks for keeping it going!

Ouch! I get the same thing. Nothing seems to work all the time, but ideas: stretching, heat, avoiding long sessions at the computer, avoiding driving the car for long periods. The car in my main culprit lately...I think the accelerator pedal foot being fixed in place makes it more difficult to shift positions. Frequent breaks and cruise control when possible both help. Hope it resolves soon!
