whether I agree with the decision or not, Saban is perfectly within their rights. Fan films are, technically, a violation of rights. We live in a permissive atmosphere, but if a rights holder thinks a fan film violates the spirit or the principle of brand, of course they're going to have it taken down. I haven't seen the fan film but a "gritty R-rated version" might just not be something Saban is interested in perpetuating. Though, I do agree that it's silly, seeing as how this is the Internet and it will be reposted all over the place.

It is such a huge surprise, and utterly refreshing, to see this opinion expressed in this forum. I say it all the time (that a Venom has pretty much zero chance of being any good) and people jump all over me.
