Show one other government council or elected body that has not raised taxes, has an actual rainy day fund, cut spending and has actually moved the city forward? Defiinitely not the council that Patrick ewing ran when he was mayor and illegally held secret meetings at his home and at the home of a developer!

Re: Bothell City Council/Growth on the minds of Freed, Wojcik - Bothell Reporter

Well, we have seen the true Joyce in action during this campaign:
she illegally attaches signs to city property, while, at the same time, is trying to push through a plan that will fine you and me $250 per day if our lawn isn't mowed low enough or if we haven't raked the leaves!

She has used corn in her back yard to lure squirrels into range, where she then shoots them. Shooting in downtown? In a residential neighborhood? Yep.

She has illegally used the city's resources for her own campaign.

She is a realtor and voted to increase the density in every single neighborhood through the flex lot ordinance!

The only reason she has been on the planning commission is that she is in a war with a couple businesses near her home and wants to make sure that they can't expand.

The City has been trying to have a full plan for downtown Bothell since the 1960's. It finally has a nice vision and she attacks it because---who knows why--currently the run-down apartments downhill from her home are 65' tall, which is 30 feet taller than the new zoning, --and her husband voted for the increased zoning height, not Josh Freed, so maybe she should get after her husband, who voted for this and stop lying about Josh who did NOT vote for the 65' height, but, instead, voted for 35' height.

As for voting to close debate, that is just plain dumb. Everyone had a chance to speak and at the end of open public discussion, they always vote to close debate.

All she can do is throw mud.

Re: Bothell City Council / Bothell’s Guinn challenged over ambulance service - Bothell Reporter

Does he have anything positive to say about himself, other than he will vote with a block, including Patrick Ewing who held secret, illegal meetings while he was mayor? These meetings were at his home and at the home of a developer.

So, He lied about the spending, about her health care, about, well everything.

No integrity.

Has he ever attended a meeting of the Shorelines Board? No. Never.

Re: Bothell City Council / Challenger says Ewing is out of step with council - Bothell Reporter

As for Ms. Wojcyk why don't you ask her why she illegally used City resources for her campaign?

Why don't you ask her when the last time she lured squirrels into her back yard and then shot them?
(Look at the target with an ear of corn in her back yard)

Why don't you ask her why she voted for flex lots which would have doubled density in every neighborhood?

Why don't you ask her why her husband (when he was on the council) voted to increase the building height in downtown, near single family homes?

The council did not vote for the 65' height (which was the existing two-story multi-family zone) they voted to DOWNSIZE the zoning. Ms. Wojcyk lied in her mailer and said the Joshua Freed voted for that, which he certainly did not.

She lies. She illegally shoots in the city. She illegally uses city resources for her campaign. She supports a block of voters that will be led by Patrick Ewing who, when mayor, held illegal secret council meetings at his home and at the home of a developer.

She is illegally attaching her signs to posts, fences and other city property, as well. She is advocating an (illegal according to the state Supreme Court) idea that will fine people $250 per day for not mowing their lawn, or for not raking leaves. Wow! Do you really want the city of Bothell fining you when you go on vacation and you don't mow your lawn? Joyce thinks that is OK.

Re: Maximum signage - Bothell Reporter

Planning Commissioner Joyce Wojcik is pushing a change in the law that would let the City of Bothell fine residents up to $250 a day for code violations just by issuing a ticket (grass too long, house not freshly painted, etc.). But as a candidate for City Council Joyce Wojcik isn’t following the Bothell Code she wants to punish others for breaking. She is illegally nailing her signs to safety rails and stacking them with huge six foot stakes. At least 40 of her yellow and black campaign signs have been placed in violation of Bothell’s code across the City and have had to be removed by city staff (at taxpayer expense). Under her own proposal she would be fined $10,000 a day! Now Joyce Wojcik is under investigation by the state for using City property to promote her campaign. Wojcik should start by following the rules herself before she changes our laws to punish others.

Don't start talking about sign damage...there are people who damage signs...but if you look around the city, how many of Del Spivey's 1000 signs are up? 125. Most were slashed, posts broken, so give me a break.

Afraid of the opposition? do you mean Patrick Ewing who illegally held secret meetings away from any official meetins while at his home and at the home of a developer? I can not believe that he did not do the ethical thing and step down. That would be honorable, but he has no honor.

Re: Executive candidate Dow Constantine woos suburbs - Bothell Reporter

Is this the first time that he has even realized there are people in the County who don't live in Seattle?

Chairman Mao/Dow was the driving force behind the illegal laws that stole private property. He orchestrated, or, at the least, was heavily involved in secret council meetings at his home and at the home of a developer!

According to the Washington State Auditor, "Reveiw of meeting indicates that between January 22, 2004 and the council scheduled meeting on January 26, 2004 that four council members held discussions in violation of the Open Public Meetings Act."

"Further discussion with City management indicates the council's four newest members met during the weekend of January 24-25 in violation of the Open Public Meetings Act."

"According to the mayor [Patrick Ewing], as documented on the February 9, 2004 video tape, subsequent to the January 5, 2004 meeting, the mayor met with councilmember Johnson and Interim City Manager Ocampo at the Mayor's home. The mayor then left and went to a Bothell developer's home (Terry Olson, former City Councilmember) and met with councilmembers Tobin and Perry with Dave Zabel, the City's Public Works Director. Discussion at the meetings appears to focus on City staffing and roles. The three remaining councilmembers were not aware of the meetings."

He is not fit for elected office. We do not conduct our business in dark alleys, we do it in the light of day.

Re: Bothell City Council / Challenger says Ewing is out of step with council - Bothell Reporter

In regards to Mr. Ewing, all that I know is that when he was Mayor, he orchestrated, or at least was a very active participant in secret council meetings that were held first at his home and then at the home of a developer.
It is outrageous that someone who broke the public trust by violating the open public meetings act has not resigned, but that would be the honorable thing to do. The other three all stepped down and did not run again.

Don't believe me? Fine, do your own research. Contact the State Auditor's Office and ask them request a copy of the audit they did of the City of Bothell. In the audit dated September 20, 2004, the Washington State Auditor wrote:
"Reveiw of meeting indicates that between January 22, 2004 and the council scheduled meeting on January 26, 2004 that four council members held discussions in violation of the Open Public Meetings Act."

At this meeting, these four held a job interview for the position of city manager. That is a very high level decision and discussion, but Mr. Ewing did not think you should be able to participate. Former Mayor Ewing was holding secret meetings at which he and three other council members discussed your city's business, which by law must be in the open. He is not fit to be an elected official. I do not know his opponent, I have never met her.
All that I know is Mr. Ewing should do the honorable thing and withdraw his name from this race.

It is a sham and a shame to hear that Mr. Ewing thinks that this council votes as a block--at least they perform the public's business in public!

If he will not resign, he must lose at the ballot box! When Patrick was mayor, the major decisions of the city were being decided at his home or at the home of a developer! After these secret meetings, according to the WA. State Auditor "the four councilmembers who met over the weekend voted to rescind action taken during the prior council meetings to extend the City Manager's contract."

Make your own judgment. Do you want a city councilmember who holds secret council meetings at his home? Would you actually vote for someone who does the public's business at his house without your knowledge? No. Bothell's citizens are smarter than that!
