I don't plan to continue this, it was just a fun excercise to see if I can imitate that style. But the idea of continuing it collaboratively with other Browncoats is not bad. It could raise some awareness of Firefly, and we can always use that...

No, the problem was that the people at the Media Authority are so stupid, that they don't even know what the constution of Hungary is for! They tried to explain in their original mail that the rights granted by the constitution can be set aside when the mental development of the youth is at stake...! It's a mind blowingly insane argument, can't you see that?

Yes, I have watched news programs, and yes, I also don't like the fact that it's nothing more than a collection of burglaries, murders and other crimes. I almost lose my will to live when I watch them. The problem is not this.

Whose job is it to edit a news program? Hey, wait a second, IT'S NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S!

My main gripe with this stupid 20% regulation is not the fact that it's 20%, it would not be suddenly OK if it was 10% or 30%. The core of the issue is that editing the news program is the editor's job at the TV-station. And it's their job to decide what they do. They can air a program full of Yet Another Baby Panda "news", or they can do a program which consists nothing more than news about theft and murders. It should be up to them, the government should not meddle with this.

Giving the government this type of authority over something that should be independently decided, is a huge step back to our 1945-1989 era. We've been through this once and it wasn't pretty.

About the Ice-T VS NMHH issue: that song is in English, and as the reply of the radio brilliantly showed, sadly, not many people in Hungary can understand English well enough to comprehend what the song is about. Yes, according to the 1996 media law, the airing of the song was illegal, but the problem (again) is not this. The problem is that it's ridiculous to assume that this song will influence the under 16 listeners badly. This was the NMHH's argument, which was brilliantly destroyed in the answer of the radio.

And the saddest part is that you have completely missing the point. The mail by the NMHH included a statement that constitutional rights can be less important than the healthy mental development of the youth. The radio had to explain to the authority, that no, this is bullshit. So what do you say to that? Is this ok by your standards?

I don't really get your "the state helps people to differ" argument. Differ in what way? Could you elaborate on that? You mean different countries and languages? Diversity?

You might have a point there, but I think Palik László would do the same things if there would be only one country :-)

And the problem is: the state as it is now is highly mafia-like (see Ross' videos!), and that's what we have a problem with. Without different countries however, I wouldn't have this much fun with Google Translate, so that's a plus :-)
