Every day the first thing I did was turn on my computer and connect to KKSF, enjoying the music and banter (and, yes, even the weather and traffic reports). When my son moved back to the East Coast in January, my KKSF routine remained the same. I absolutely loved your station and looked forward to tuning in every morning. NYC made the same terrible mistake, dumping CD101.9 and alienated smooth jazz fans here throughout the NY metro area. Even though I can still listen to the music via streaming, the "thrill is gone." I feel so sorry for your former fans right in the Bay area. This is a huge loss for all. Posted by Sandra In New York

Dear Sandra (in New York!): I feel your pain! We are so upset here in the Bay Area about KKSF and the stupid decisions by their management to get rid of one of the best radio stations in this area. But since you are streaming, check out KSSJ in the Sacramento region. They are FANTASTIC! They love their loyal listerners and are fiercely independent and not party of Clear Channel madness. The are almost identical to KKSF and play the same beautiful music. I just talked to the afternoon disc jockey LIVE on the phone!!! She assured me that KKSJ would be there for those of us who have lost our local KKSF. Check them out...you will love it.

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

I just talked "live" on the air to KSSJ's Lynda Clayton and she said they are just sick from hearing the news about the demise of KKSF and they are going to try their hardest to fill the void for us. They don't know how they will get themselves into our car radios but at least they understand and are listening. They may end up having a whole raft of new loyal listeners!

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Hey everyone: If you loved KKSF you will love KSSJ and they CARE about their "loyal listeners" like KKSF used to. I keep hitting 103.7 on my car radio while commuting to work and can't believe the crap that I am hearing. The Band is the worst station I have ever heard on the radio so far. I am finally going to delete it from both my car's radio station buttons. Do you guys have any sense at all after reading.....what.....103 pages of comments?!?! And all of them say the same thing! Stupid decision! Smooth Jazz had a ton of Bay Area fans!! We supported concerts, your advertisers, won contests, the music soothed our hectic commutes to and from work in the AM and PM, we bought CD's for the Aids Relief....we loved KKSF. I am with the woman who posted earlier about writing to KSSJ in Sacramento. I talked to one of the production people yesterday who had just heard that you canned KKSF and they could not believe it. They have NOT sold out to boring music like The Band. I am going to email them and see if they can get a stronger signal. If you were a KKSF fan you will be a KSSJ one instantly. It's like they were sister stations almost. They have a smooth jazz concert series in Sacramento that is fantastic. You can listen online at work - just wish I had a computer on-board in my car so I could stream it on my car radio while commuting! Hey KKSF....are you listening to us?!?!?

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Ditto, Frank! Bland soft-rock music that is on about 4 other bay area stations already. What a stupid business decision.

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Trying my post again for the 4th time. This is the most insane decision my radio management to get rid of Smooth Jazz KKSF. I almost ran my car off the road yesterday when I tuned in to hear Journey screaming out some old, worn out 70';s tune followed by Boston then a canned voice saying "welcome to the new 103.7, the Band". Unbelievable. What about your "loyal listeners"? Some of us still listen to radio in the car (and not XM) and love to hear the radio personalities. I missed Ramsey Lewis this morning. So sad.

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

OK am I missing something as I am attempting to stream on my computer at work the "new" KKSF....is it just back-to-back music and no radio personalities talking or is this the new format? Miranda, are you there this afternoon?

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Well I guess you can't post a comment as a guest so you have to register. Well that's OK because I will keep writing what I have written 3 times now and it hasn't been posted. This was the most ill-informed managment decision I have ever heard of. I about ran off the road on the GGBridge when I hit my 103.7 button and heard Journey belting out a loud 70's tune. Thought my radio went wacko on me. Then Boston's "More than a Feeling" then a canned announcement (not a live voice) said "Welcome to the new 103.7, The Band" and I about screamed out the sunroof of my car....W....T....F!!!!?? What happened to my smooth ride home, Maria Lopez, Ramsey in the morning, Hotel Nikko sunday morning jazz...all the stuff that is relaxing that we need in this crazy world we live in. It's just like I was saying the other day, what' s next? We have a recession, a crumbling economy, people losing jobs and houses and I said to my hubby "at least we have good music on the radio to listen to on the way to work!" Well THAT is out the window now, isn't it? You know, some of us still have RADIOS in our car (and not XM, thank you very much) so mangement....get KKSF back on the air PLEASE!
